Access to cancer care matters.

For many people, treatment can mean travelling long distances – often every day for several weeks. We want to help change that.

Plans for a new cancer centre in Leeds aim to bring more treatment closer to home, making it easier for patients and families across the region.

We’re proud to be part of conversations focused on improving access to care and supporting local communities.

Did you know radiotherapy is used in around half of all cancer treatments?

As part of plans for a new cancer centre in Leeds, we are looking to bring advanced radiotherapy technology closer to local patients.

This includes highly targeted treatments such as stereotactic radiotherapy – a highly precise form of radiation treatment that delivers focused high-doses of radiation to a tumour while minimising impact on surrounding healthy tissue, often reducing the number of treatment sessions.

Every patient is different, and treatment is always carefully planned by specialist teams.

We were really inspired by Louise’s story 💜

After being treated twice for breast cancer, she shares the challenges of travelling for radiotherapy and how having treatment closer to home could make such a difference for patients and families.

Together with Nuffield Health, we’re focused on making cancer care more accessible for communities across the UK.

It’s a powerful reminder of how important that is during what can be an incredibly tough time.

When cancer comes back, everything changes.

After a routine annual scan revealed a small change in a lymph node, Harriet received news she hoped she would never hear again.

“The second diagnosis was harder. It had come back, and it was more advanced.”

As a single parent, Harriet faced treatment while continuing to care for the people who depended on her. Throughout that journey, she found comfort not only in the care she received at Icon Cancer Centre London, but in the support shown to those around her.

“I was never just a patient. The team supported me and the people I love.”

One quote from Harriet’s story captures it perfectly:

“It felt like care for my whole ecosystem.”

Today, Harriet is sharing her experience to help others facing cancer know they don’t have to face it alone.
