We're proud to share that we’ve been shortlisted in four categories at the HSJ Awards 2026, including the prestigious Trust of the Year award 👏🏼

Alongside our shortlist as an organisation, our teams and people are up for the following:

🔹 Clinician of the Year: Dr Jennifer Illingworth, consultant anaesthetist and clinical lead for health improvement, has been shortlisted for her leadership in improving population health through healthcare.

🔹 Mental Health Innovation of the Year: The pan London Major Trauma Psychology Network has been shortlisted for embedding psychology as an essential component of trauma care, improving outcomes, experience, equity and resilience at scale.

🔹 Workforce Initiative of the Year: Our Getting into Medicine programme has been shortlisted for its efforts to help aspiring doctors, particularly those from underrepresented and less advantaged backgrounds, access careers in medicine.

These nominations are a testament to the kindness, expertise and commitment that our staff bring to work every day, and to the positive difference they make for patients, families and communities.

A little support can make a lasting impact 💙

When Razia joined our acute assessment unit, she was new to both healthcare and the NHS. The support she received from nurse Jeeva on her first day has stayed with her ever since.

"Jeeva made me feel so comfortable and supported. She helped me with every task and made sure I wasn't overburdened."

For Jeeva, helping new colleagues grow is one of the most rewarding parts of her job.

"I've always been inspired by the way my ward supports new staff. From my experience, supporting colleagues helps create a healthy working environment and promotes patient safety."

The two recently reunited to catch up, share memories and reflect on the difference a supportive colleague can make.

Celebrating our latest DAISY Award honouree 💙

DAISY Awards give patients, families and carers the opportunity to recognise and thank the nurses and midwives whose care has made a lasting difference.

Last week Joao became the first DAISY Award recipient in our emergency department at St Mary’s Hospital. He was recognised for the compassionate care he provided to a patient and their family.

The family shared, “What stood out most was Joao's calm and professional approach. He never appeared rushed and consistently treated my father with dignity, recognising the additional support and reassurance he needed.

“Joao embodies everything that nursing should be – compassionate, patient, skilled and person-centred. His commitment to delivering outstanding care not only supported my father but also provided comfort and confidence to our family.”

Huge congratulations Joao on this well-deserved recognition ✨

Anyone can become unwell when the weather is hot, but some are at higher risk than
others. ☀️

Look out for older people, people with long-term health conditions and young
children who may find it more difficult to stay cool and hydrated in hot weather.

The first choice of milk for our most vulnerable premature babies is their mother’s own milk, but for some families, whose babies arrive early, this isn’t always an option.

This World Breastfeeding Week, we're shining a spotlight on our milk bank at Queen Charlotte’s & Chelsea Hospital and how it supports our premature and sick babies with feeding ➡️ https://www.imperial.nhs.uk/our-services/neonatology/milk-bank
