Build-up behaves predictably....
It gathers slowly, it responds to washing, and it settles once it's cleared.

Itching, flaking, or tenderness that returns quickly or never quite leaves is usually telling you something different.....

That distinction matters more with Afro and textured hair, where wash days are spaced further apart .... The instinct is to assume the scalp needs a harder clean.🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠

Often, it needs the opposite: less friction, less stripping, and someone actually looking at it properly.

A scrub can't tell you what's happening on your scalp. A trichologist can!!!!!

Around half of new mums go through this!!!

Postpartum shedding peaks at 3–4 months and settles for most women by 6–12. It's not falling out, it's catching up!!!

But not every shed is that shed.

Myth: Textured hair should be washed as little as possible.

It may not be because of what's happening today.

A significant stress, illness, surgery, childbirth, or major life event can trigger telogen effluvium, a type of hair shedding that often begins 2–3 months after the event.

The good news?
In most cases, it's temporary. If your shedding is ongoing or you're unsure what's causing it, a professional assessment can help identify the underlying cause and the best way forward 💚

Does hair oil grow hair? 🤔

It's one of the most common questions I get.

Current evidence suggests that hair follicles receive their nutrients from the blood supply, not from oils applied to the scalp.

That doesn't mean scalp oils have no place. They can help reduce moisture loss and may benefit a dry scalp, but they're not the right choice for everyone.

The best scalp routine depends on your scalp's needs, not what's trending online.
