A huge thank you to Nuala and the Women Over Fifty Film Festival (WOFFF) for a wonderful afternoon of short films exploring ageing, friendship and the beautiful power of neighbourliness. 🌿🎬

It was such a delight to gather, watch, laugh, reflect, and recognise pieces of our own stories on screen. The conversations that followed were just as rich.

And what a perfect way to end the afternoon — a calming and restorative chair yoga session with Jess. 🧘‍♀️✨

Thank you, Nuala, for bringing these moving films to our community and for creating space where women’s voices and experiences are seen and celebrated. Looking forward to the next one! 💛

🌈✨ Creating Safer Spaces for All ✨🌈

This week, Grove Residential Home was proud to co-host a powerful event at Foster Hall, St Barnabas Church, Walthamstow, featuring a moving talk by Dr Clare Summerskill discussing her verbatim play: “At the Rainbow’s End.”

Dr Summerskill shared stories drawn from interviews with older LGBTQ+ people who have faced discrimination and exclusion in care settings. Through her theatre work, she reminded us how vital it is to build affirming, compassionate environments — where no one is made to hide who they are, especially in later life.

The afternoon brought together care professionals from Care Providers Voice, care homes and church leaders, allies — to reflect, learn, and act. Attendees also received toolkits to help develop affirmative services in adult social care, and joined a Q&A on how to do better, together.

Thank you to everyone who made this event possible. Special thanks to St Barnabas Church for generously hosting us in Foster Hall — and to the amazing volunteers and staff who help make this work real every day. 🧡

🎉 Celebrating 40 Years of Grove Residential Home! 🎉

This year marks 40 years since Grove Residential Home first opened its doors — and what a journey it has been! 🏡💛

We hadn’t planned to mark the occasion, but with both founders (mum and dad) in the country!, the sunny weather and our new BBQ grill (donated by Ingerith and Al), we pulled together an impromptu gathering to mark the occasion. 🌞🔥

A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated staff — past and present — and to the family, friends and neighbours who continue to keep us in their prayers and support us in so many ways. We’re so grateful!

We’ve just voted - using Voter Certificates as form of ID - have you?

We are voting! Some of our residents exercised their postal vote and sent it back last week. Others submitted applications for Voter ID certificates to be issued by the Local Authority in order to vote, in-person, at the polls next Thursday 4th July!

We had the brilliant Charlie Blair from The Blair Academy deliver chair based dance to our residents last Friday and they absolutely loved it!

Residents already have art with Lucy from Creative Minds and exercise with Martin from G-fitness.

Charlie will add extra variety to get us moving!
