Dr.Gayetri Functional Medicine Practitioner

Dr.Gayetri Functional Medicine Practitioner Optimising your health through bespoke consultation This realisation led me to further my knowledge and expertise in to the area of Functional Medicine.

Having practiced for over 13 years as a Medical Doctor in UK specialising as a GP, I became personally aware from both my experiences and education, the problems/drawbacks and limitations within conventional medicine. Through personal lifestyle and simple nutritional changes along with focused nutritional supplementation I was able to fully transform my own personal health and now support hundreds

of patients to do the same using my blended functional and conventional approach. I support individuals across a whole spectrum of health challenges from Male and Female issues (including PCOS, sub fertility, menopause, hormonal imbalance), male health (Prostate Issues), gut health, diabetes, auto immune, fatigue and much more. I combine my 13 years' experience as a GP with extensive training and experience using a Functional Medicine approach with her clients. My systems are incredibly insightful, looking at every area of your life in depth giving you a full and true picture of your health. My conventional medicine background means I can spot anything serious and make immediate referrals, coupled with the testing systems I use being extremely thorough, providing you with over 3 x more insight and reporting than the standard NHS test results, making my approach to functional medicine robust and all encompassing

Functional medicine is a holistic approach examining how lifestyle, diet, genetics and the environment have a direct affect upon our health. The systems on which our bodies function can have both a positive and negative effect upon one another. Understanding this homeostatic balance, remembering that every individual is unique, allows us to address the root causes of an individual’s ailment, no matter how complex, rather than simply treating the isolated symptom using conventional medicine.

Our bodies are incredibly good at communicating with us, but we're often too busy to listen.

Persistent fatigue, poor sleep, digestive discomfort, brain fog, or feeling overwhelmed aren't always things to simply "push through."

Sometimes these are gentle signals that your body needs more nourishment, rest, or support. Paying attention to these signs early can help you make positive changes before they become bigger concerns.

Which of these signs have you noticed lately? And if you're experiencing these more consistently, book a discovery call and let's get to the root cause.

Did you know your gut and brain are constantly communicating with each other?

This connection influences much more than digestion. It can affect your mood, energy levels, sleep, focus, and even how you respond to stress.

When your gut is well supported, you're supporting your overall wellbeing too.

Remember, you don't have to make drastic changes overnight. Small, consistent habits can create a ripple effect throughout your mind, body, and everyday life.

✨ Save this post for a reminder that healing often starts from within.

Healthy ageing isn't determined by one big decision. It's shaped by the small habits we repeat every day.

The encouraging part is that you don't need to change everything overnight. Choosing one habit to improve, and being consistent with it, can have a meaningful impact over time.

Longevity isn't about chasing perfection. It's about building simple, sustainable habits that help your body become stronger, more resilient and better supported as you age.

So, without overwhelming yourself, which habit are you changing from today?

After years of practising medicine, these are some of the biggest truths Functional Medicine has taught me:

1️⃣ Symptoms are messengers, not inconveniences.
Fatigue, bloating, headaches, skin issues and poor sleep are often your body's way of asking for

2️⃣ Everything in the body is connected.
Your gut influences your brain. Your stress affects your hormones. Your sleep impacts your blood sugar. The body works as one interconnected system. It doesn’t work in isolation and neither should healthcare.

3️⃣ "Normal" tests don't always mean you're well.
People can struggle with symptoms long before the problem appears on a test. Functional Medicine taught me to look deeper, connect the dots and understand the root causes behind why someone doesn't feel well.

4️⃣ Small habits matter more than quick fixes.
Sleep, movement, stress management, nutrition and relationships have a bigger impact on long-term health than any supplement or short-term diet ever will.

5️⃣ Healing is deeply personal.
There is no one perfect diet, supplement or exercise routine. What works brilliantly for one person may not work for another, which is why personalised medicine matters, and this is what Functional Medicine focuses on.

Perhaps the greatest lesson of all?

The body has an incredible ability to heal when we take the time to understand it and give it the support it needs.

Which one resonates with you the most?

Forgetfulness, poor concentration, struggling to find the right words, reading the same paragraph over and over…

Brain fog is incredibly common, but that doesn't mean it's something you simply have to accept.

While stress and lack of sleep are often blamed, persistent brain fog may have a number of underlying and often overlooked contributors, including blood sugar imbalances, nutrient deficiencies, poor-quality sleep, gut health, hormones and even post-viral changes.

In Functional Medicine, we look beyond symptoms in isolation and aim to understand the factors that may be influencing cognitive health and overall wellbeing.

Brain fog isn't just frustrating. it can affect your confidence, productivity and quality of life, and perhaps most importantly, it isn't something you should have to "push through" or accept as normal.

Conventional medicine is excellent at identifying the problem. Functional Medicine asks a different question: why did the problem develop in the first place?

Many people come to Functional Medicine after seeing multiple practitioners, having countless tests, and being told everything looks "normal" yet they still don't feel well.

This is where Functional Medicine can be so powerful.

It's not about looking at symptoms in isolation but understanding why the symptoms exist in the first place. It's about stepping back, looking at the bigger picture and understanding how the different pieces of your health may be connected.

If you've been searching for answers to ongoing health concerns, Functional Medicine may offer a different way of looking at your health.

Longevity isn’t built through one supplement, one workout, or one “healthy” week.

It’s shaped by the small habits you repeat consistently over time, the way you sleep, eat, move, recover and support your nervous system every single day.

In Functional Medicine, we focus on these foundations early because how you age is influenced by far more than genetics alone.

These are 9 of the biggest things that you can start today to support energy, resilience, brain health and healthy ageing long-term.

Which one do you feel you need to work on most right now?

17/05/2026

I’ve been a doctor for 17 years now, and one thing I’ve learnt is that the habits we repeat daily have a huge impact on how we age.

Some of the biggest contributors I see to accelerated ageing are:

👉Poor sleep quality → when sleep suffers, the brain can’t detox properly, hormones become disrupted and the body struggles to repair and recover.

👉Blood sugar spikes → frequent spikes and crashes increase inflammation, impact energy and place stress on the body over time.

👉Chronic stress → constantly living in fight-or-flight mode affects everything from hormones and gut health to brain function and inflammation.

👉Ultra-processed foods → diets high in processed foods often increase inflammation while reducing the nutrients the body needs to function optimally.

👉A sedentary lifestyle → sitting for long periods impacts metabolic health, circulation, muscle mass and even brain health.

👉Low muscle mass → muscle is one of the biggest predictors of healthy ageing, resilience and metabolic health as we get older.

👉Poor gut health → an imbalanced microbiome can influence inflammation, immunity, mood and cognitive function.

👉Lack of recovery → constantly pushing without rest keeps the nervous system in survival mode and speeds up burnout.

The good news is that ageing is influenced by far more than genetics alone. Small, consistent changes can have a powerful impact on your long-term health, energy and resilience.
