Pallavi has a keen interest in developing day surgery pathways and exploring new approaches to patient support and follow-up. Through her role on BADS Council, she enjoys working with colleagues from across the UK to exchange ideas and experiences that help advance day surgery:

A new consensus statement on Peri-operative Management of Patients Having Day Surgery has been published, developed jointly by the Association of Anaesthetists, BADS and the Association of Paediatric Anaesthetists of Great Britain and Ireland.

The publication brings together expert recommendations to support day surgery services across the UK and includes contributions from BADS representatives David Bunting, Lindsay Hudman and Rachel Tibble.

What a great session at the British Orthopaedic Association Annual Congress 2026 yesterday.

There was excellent engagement from the audience as we explored how day surgery pathways can support trauma and orthopaedic services by focusing on the right patient, right procedure, right place and right team.

The discussion challenged some of the myths around barriers to day surgery, questioned whether patient labels can sometimes limit what's possible and highlighted the huge opportunities that procedure rooms could offer within orthopaedic surgery.
