Women wear many hats, juggling roles with grace and strength, whether as leaders, nurturers, innovators, or creators. Let’s honour their contributions and stand together to celebrate their achievements and the positive impact they have on our world.

Black Baby Loss Awareness Week.

Thank you to started by who highlights the disparities our community face and champions our voices.

I experienced stillborn due to placenta abruption, at 32+6 weeks. However, baby loss was a traumatising experience I had previously endured as a child, through my mother.

My mother experienced 1 miscarriage, a stillborn and ectopic pregnancy.

Mums stillborn was due to her cervix opening too early. My baby brother was born and stayed alive for 2 hours. We have pictures of him and his loc of hair in remembrance.

The ectopic was a near miss. Negligence by her healthcare provider who did not do thorough checks, and sent her home. She passed out whilst sitting on the toilet and was blue lighted back into hospital, losing 7 pints of blood and receiving a blood transfusion. As I type this, I remember the feelings I had about losing my mother as a child. 😢

The first question I asked my consultant who was caring for me after my stillborn birth was “is this hereditary” I just couldn’t understand why.

I often think about my mother and stepdad, and how they both coped during their time, where their voice was not heard, or had no one advocating for them.

Thank you and organisations like and many others for educating, amplifying our voices and championing for change.
