Asking the right questions before surgery is one of the most important things a patient can do.

A good consultation should not feel like a sales process. It should feel like a genuine, personalised discussion about your vision, your expectations and the most suitable pathway forward.

If you leave a consultation feeling uncertain or with unanswered questions, it may be worth seeking a further opinion.

Prepare your questions in advance and make the most of your consultation time.

Active patients often find that glasses and contact lenses create unnecessary barriers to enjoyment and performance.

Vision correction can remove those barriers entirely, allowing patients to engage fully in the activities that matter most to them.

If sport or outdoor activity plays an important role in your lifestyle, it is worth considering how improved visual freedom could enhance your experience.

Discuss your active lifestyle goals during a consultation.

Some patients feel uncomfortable asking for a second opinion, as though it implies a lack of trust.

In reality, seeking a second perspective on a significant medical decision is a perfectly reasonable and responsible approach.

A confident surgeon will welcome the opportunity to explain their recommendations clearly and support a patient in making an informed choice.

If you have received a recommendation elsewhere and would like an independent view, we are happy to help.

Longevity of results is a question many patients have but sometimes hesitate to ask.

For the majority of procedures, outcomes are designed to be lasting. However, as with any aspect of health, individual factors can influence how vision changes over time.

A thorough pre-operative discussion should address what you can realistically expect in the years following treatment.

Informed patients tend to experience greater long-term satisfaction.

Discuss your long-term expectations during a personalised consultation.

Dry eye is one of the most commonly overlooked factors in pre-surgical planning.

Patients who experience symptoms such as irritation, fluctuating vision or discomfort with contact lenses may benefit from assessment and management before proceeding with surgery.

Addressing dry eye proactively is not a barrier to treatment.

In many cases, it is an important part of preparing for the best possible outcome.

Discuss your eye comfort during your next consultation.

One of the most common concerns before surgery is recovery time.

While every patient heals differently, most modern vision correction procedures involve a relatively short recovery period.

Your surgeon should give you a clear understanding of what to expect before, during and after your procedure.

Knowing what is ahead helps patients feel informed, confident and prepared.

Ask about recovery during your personalised consultation.

Patient experiences after vision correction are as individual as the patients themselves.

For some, the most significant change is freedom from glasses first thing in the morning.

For others, it is improved confidence while driving or engaging in sport.

Whatever your visual priorities, treatment planning should always centre around what matters most to you.

Discover how personalised vision correction could improve your daily life.
