It’s about moving past the cringe….

Here is the thing… wait, let me introduce myself.

My name is Max, I am a coach.

“What do you coach Max?”

“Thanks for asking, I coach runners, I coach non-runners who want to be runners, I coach runners who want to be faster runners, I coach runners who know full well they are meant to be doing strength work and don’t know where to start, I coach runners coming back from injury, I coach those who want to avoid injury”

“So just runners then?”

“Actually no, I am a personal trainer, I coach anyone who wants to get fitter than they have ever been. But instagram told me I need to only post about one subject”

If you’ve read this far and think it’s perfectly normal to talk about yourself in third person on the internet….and you’re looking for a coach…. Well then…..

As I get into the thick end of ultra training this is what my weeks are looking like.

Monday I kicked off the week with a cheeky half marathon and it felt’s good

Tuesday, in my happy place with lovely upper body weights session.

Wednesday got my arse handed to me with a lower body weights….did 30 minutes.

Yeah. Thursday. About that. Managed a 30 minute stretch session that had me speaking in tongues as I held the some of the stretches.

Friday. Legs loosener. I needed a little shake out.

I say chill. And y’know, I didn’t train. I did however coach 3 back to back classes and clock up 22k steps. So. 🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️

My big run. Now, I normally do my big runs on Saturday as I like to chill on Sunday. But it’s a Bank Holiday. And when I realised that it didn’t have to be long run OR carnival but long run TO carnival. It gave me a target.

50 km. Just over 30 miles in the legs. I’m looking forward to this Saturday’s run for sure.

If Dolly says it then we must do it.

As you sit on this Bank Holiday Monday looking down the barrel of the ‘ber’ months listen to Dolly.

Then get back in the game.

We all know that feeling. We sit down happy as Larry to look at our Strava data, and by that I mean look over the map of the route we have just run and try to remember running any of it.

Then along comes some speedy gonzalez with their warp speed casual pace.

It’s ok. I’m happy for them. I really am. 😂😂

I mean, it’s not like I don’t stretch AT ALL, I stretch at the end of every class I coach, and I do have a sweet stretch and joint mobility movement post-run. so that is at least 10 minutes a day. not enough

I know, I know, it’s not enough, currently sitting at 250km run so far this month. This mornings 30 minute stretch was a good start, thanks to Five Parks Yoga on YouTube (I’m a big fan) I deffo feel better for it.

I guess this is a reminder to myself more than anything to treat myself and my body with the same respect and care I treat my client’s bodies
