Today, Monday 7 September, we celebrate the birthday of His Holiness Sakya Gongma Trizin Rinpoche. His Holiness was born in 1945 in Tsedong, Tibet, and served as the 41st head of the Sakya tradition for over fifty years. He is also one of the principal teachers of Lama Jampa Thaye, founder of Dechen.

His Holiness the Sakya Trichen is a member of Tibetβ€˜s noble KhΓΆn family, which founded the Sakya tradition in the eleventh and twelfth centuries.

In addition to his leadership of the Sakya tradition, His Holiness Sakya Gongma Trichen is renowned throughout the world for the brilliance and clarity of his teachings and his fluency and precise command of English. Receiving teachings directly from His Holiness carries a special lineage of blessings from the founders of the Sakya tradition, as well as from Manjushri himself.

Through the kindness of His Holiness and at the invitation of Lama Jampa Thaye, we have been privileged to welcome him to many of our Centres across Dechen. Most recently, in July this year, the Dechen Sakya centres in London and Bristol co-hosted His Holiness and his son, His Holiness the 43rd Sakya Gongma Trizin, for a joyful and extraordinary weekend of teachings.

All of us send our wishes to His Holiness for continued long life and the flourishing of all his activities!

So lovely to see this picture shared from Sakya Changlochen Ling's Summer Course πŸ™ We rejoice that so many from Dechen London could attend, and give thanks to everyone who gave their time and energy to make it such a wonderful event. With great gratitude πŸͺ·to Lama Jampa Thaye for his profound teachings throughout the course.✨

🌞 A golden time with Lama Jampa, Dechen Dolma and family, and many dharma friends. Over two weeks at our retreat centre in France, Sakya Changlochen Ling, we heard Shantideva's teachings on how to shift our focus from self to other, then received the initiation and detailed instructions on how to meditate on White Tara of the Wishfulfilling Wheel. Meditation on White Tara increases intelligence, longevity and prosperity, so that enlightenment for the benefit of others is achieved more swiftly.

There was also time to drink coffee, laugh and explore the beautiful countryside, with the occasional dip in the Dordogne or Vezere.

We would like to express our deepest thanks to Lama Jampa for giving such profound yet practical teachings, and to thank everyone who gave their time and energy to make this such a wonderful event!

More news and many photos to follow soon πŸͺ·
