Founded in 2016 as response to a desire for deeper connection between personal finance and well-being, The Dura Society strives to dispel the notion that females and finance don't go together. We do this by empowering, engaging, and motivating with inspiring talks, online and off-line courses and events, interviews, and collaborations with our trusted network. We offer private financial coaching,

and corporate workshops, enabling re-engagement not just with finances, but with overall well-being, relationships and emotions. WE BRING CLARITY AND CONFIDENCE TO THE COMPLEXITY OF WEALTH

Our three pillars are:

· Women - we are advocates for equality for all sexes
· Wealth - we strive to educate and inspire individuals to take control of their own wealth
· Well-being - we look to share knowledge of healthy habits for both finances and mental health

In addition to our growing community of ambitious and intelligent individuals we work with likeminded brands and organisations to create events, content and a curated network. Get in touch if you would like to work with us. Along with our experienced and professional contributors we deliver the highest quality content so you can rest assured that you’re in safe hands. Marching the streets of London as we get stuck into the to do list 💪🚀✨

Excited for what’s coming up over the next couple of months…and can’t wait to share something very special with you that’s happening in November 💙 am firing up all cylinders after a much needed summer break!

How are you feeling as we start this new season?

Lottie xx

P.s. can’t recommend doing a wardrobe clear-out more!! Haven’t done that in years, but it’s so refreshing to finally ticked it off the list 🤗 one small step for productivity 💪

Working on something exciting behind the scenes… obviously decided to make it as a side-quest because a linear brain I do not possess. And my mounting to do list is taunting me. Enter *productive procrastination*.

Sometimes wonder what it would be like to be organised and efficient, then find something much more interesting to worry about…as that’s what AI is for isn’t it?

Have read the books, listened to the productivity podcasts, attempted to use Notion (wtf is that about?!) and come to the clear conclusion that I’d rather be chaotic than a robot 🤖🫶

Though I am defo open to concentration tips… anyone?!! Now…where’s that to do list?? 👀👀👀

Back to school after a dreamy summer break… when you’re faced with a wall of OOO’s during August you can’t beat, then you may as well join them 🤪🌞🩵

How are you all? Can’t wait to share what we’ve got coming up for Autumn. Our next newsletter will be shared shortly so make sure to send us your email address in DMs so you don’t miss out!

With love, and warmth, Lottie xx 💙

Why it have to be like that tho? 🙃

Confronting my shadow self (she’s the one with the dopamine addiction). Turns out the culprit was staring back at me the whole time.

We all have a shadow that spends more than we’d like to admit. The good news is, once you can see her, you can manage her.

Quick tips for reclaiming your money (and sanity!):

• Track it before you judge it. Pull up your last month of transactions and actually look at them.
• Give every pound a job. A simple budget where each bit of income has a purpose stops money evaporating into “where did it go.”
• Build in a cooling off period. Anything over a set amount, wait twenty four hours before buying.
• Automate your savings first. Move money to savings the day you get paid, not whatever’s left over.
• Check in weekly, not just monthly. A five minute Sunday review catches small leaks before they flood.

Your shadow doesn’t budget. You do. Start with one habit above this week, that’s what The Dura Society is here for.

This morning we hosted our quarterly Expert Breakfast Briefing, bringing together members and prospective members from across the private client world for a morning of connection and conversation.

We were delighted to welcome the team from Forsters LLP, who led a roundtable on some of the biggest issues facing private clients right now: shifts in residential property, changes for international clients, the evolving picture on inheritance tax, and what a new government could mean for all of it.

But the real value of these mornings is always the same. Everyone in that room works with the same clients from a different angle, lawyers, wealth managers, tax specialists, family office professionals, and yet rarely end up in conversation with each other. Today, they did.

Thank you to Forsters for leading such a rich discussion, and to everyone who joined us. This is exactly what The Dura Society exists to do: connect the people who serve the same clients, so the advice those clients receive is joined up rather than siloed.

If you work in the private client space and want to be part of conversations like this one, our Expert Membership is open for applications.

A woman told me last year that leaving her marriage wasn’t the hard part. Not knowing what she had, whose name was on what, how much she’d actually need to live, that kept her stuck for three more years than it should have.

I think about her every time I see a stat like this: nearly a third of women say they’ve stayed in a relationship or situation longer than they wanted to because they didn’t have the money to leave. Motherhood costs the average woman around £65,000 in lost earnings over five years, and the pension gap that follows can run into six figures. Women still run the household budget more than men do, yet men are the ones making the calls on investing, on pensions, on the will.

None of that surprises anyone who’s sat across from a client going through a divorce or a death or a hard reckoning with their own finances at 45.

You don’t stop needing people. You stop needing them to hold the parts of your life that only you should be holding: your income, your plan, your exit route if you ever need one.

This is what we build toward at The Dura Society. Independence isn’t isolation. It’s what lets you choose the people around you, rather than being kept by them.

A DECADE OF DURA | ONE MONTH ON…

A huge thank you again to Soba Circus for keeping our guests sharp and sparkling at this year’s Summer Party at the incredible Sundaram Tagore Gallery.

Founded by DJ and entrepreneur Nic Fanciulli, designer Sophia Fanciulli, and F&B veteran David Folkman, Soba Circus is built on eight botanicals, including yerba mate, rhodiola, panax ginseng and ginkgo biloba, with nothing artificial and nothing added for sugar. It’s alcohol free by design rather than by compromise, made in the UK and served in one of the most striking bottles we’ve come across this year. Our guests reached for it all afternoon, and the room noticed.

This is exactly the kind of partner we love working with. A brand with a clear point of view, a product that holds its own in a room full of discerning women, and founders who understand that well-being and glamour aren’t opposites.
