New on Our YouTube Channel! 🎥

We’ve uploaded a short, practical guide to help you confidently respond to a draft Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

In this video, we cover:

✅ What it means to respond to a draft plan
✅ The different sections of an EHCP and what they include
✅ How to carefully check your child’s needs, outcomes, and support (provision)
✅ How to highlight missing information and request changes
✅ Your right to choose and request a school or setting

💡 Extra support available:

Alongside the video, we also have a helpful guide on our website — “Checking a Draft EHC Plan” — which you can use as a reference when reviewing your own young person’s plan:

Click on Education, Health and Care Plans from the topic list and then it is under Draft EHC Plan

💬 Need more personalised support?

We run fortnightly workshops with a support worker where you can ask questions specific to your journey:

Thinking about using AI for SEND advice?

SENDIASS advises caution when using Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools for SEND legal information and guidance.

While AI can provide quick and convincing responses, the information may be inaccurate, incomplete, misleading, or out of date. AI-generated content should not be used as a substitute for professional SEND advice and support.

Parent carers, children and young people have the right to access information from sources of their choosing, including AI tools. However, when making important decisions, we encourage families to seek advice from trusted SEND professionals and support services.

📣 Can You Help with some Research?

We've been asked by a lovely student at the University of Portsmouth to help share their MSc Psychology research on Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA) in secondary school-aged girls with ADHD.

The study is looking for:

✅ Parents/carers of girls aged 11–16 with ADHD who have experienced EBSA
✅ Teachers, SENCos, pastoral staff, LSAs, and other school staff who have supported pupils with ADHD and EBSA

If you'd like to take part and support this valuable research, please follow the link below:
