F2B is back after a mini spring break, taking on The Seers by Sulaiman Addonia.

A story taking place between the streets of London and memories of country ravaged by war. Young Eritrean Asylum Seeker, Hannah arrives in London possessing nothing but the diaries of her mother.

Grappling with Britain's bureaucratic immigration policy and navigating homelessness, The Seers explores intergenerational histories, colonial trauma and s*xual fluidity. In a single paragraph dream-like prose, Addonia peels back the layer of Hannah's psychological and erotic world, whose identity is shaped by both her history and the unfolding present, yet refuses to be suppressed.

Naz wishes everyone a happy start to Pride Month 2026!

Life looks very different when you are looking in from the margins. While our lives are rich and nuanced as LGBTQ+ and Black and Brown folks, we are also no stranger to shapeshifting and hiding parts of ourselves so that we can live safely.

Pride Month is a beautiful celebration, but it also exists during a time of increased violence and uncertainty. Over the last five years, homophobic and trans hate crimes in England and Wales have increased by 20% and 50% respectively (Stonewall UK, 2026). have shared that calls to their su***de crisis helpline went up by 40% from trans people following the EHRC's ruling on single s*x spaces. , the UK's primary anti-Muslim hate monitoring charity, recorded over 6,300 cases in 2024, representing a 43% increase—that's almost half of all recorded religious hate crimes in the UK.

Gay marriage and visibility alone was never the ultimate destination. Black and Brown q***r folks around the world who have fought, and continue to fight, for the right to live without fear did not put their live on the line for this.

This Pride Month, remember: liberation for all is not free. Compassion, empathy and allyship are the only true currencies of wealth. When looking for meaning this Pride Month, this is a good place to start. 🏳️‍⚧️✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽✊🏼✊🏻🏳️‍🌈
