The I Am Human campaign shares the real experiences of colleagues from across the Trust and asks patients and visitors to pause, reflect and remember the person behind the uniform.

The campaign features Kate, Michael, Salwa and Emily, whose stories show how an upsetting or aggressive interaction at work can stay with someone long after the immediate incident has ended.

Across our emergency departments, 473 incidents of assault, abuse and aggression were reported in 2025, three times the number reported in 2018. The largest and fastest-growing problem is verbal abuse and other aggressive behaviour, which accounted for nearly three-quarters of reported aggression incidents in A&E last year.

Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Imperial College London are recruiting for a first in man clinical trial, ‘RAB- Vac’, which is testing an investigational RNA based Rabies vaccine.

Here, Maithili, Clinical Research Fellow in Vaccinology at Imperial Medicine highlights five of the main reasons a new rabies vaccine is needed. Rabies remains one of the most recognised zoonotic infections worldwide and continues to cause significant loss of life.

This study has been funded by the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations - CEPI and this study has received infrastructure support in part by the NIHR Imperial Biomedical Research Centre (BRC).

Salwa, Stroke Consultant, shares her story about how a patient’s relative grew increasingly aggressive with her and the team. They repeatedly crossed boundaries and tried to influence clinical decisions, creating anxiety and tension across the team which Salwa took home with her.

Ernestas has spent the last year on our Burns Unit following a devastating flame burn injury affecting 90% of his body. Throughout his recovery, he has shown exceptional courage, determination and resilience.

Soon to be discharged from hospital, his journey reflects not only his incredible strength, but also the dedication of the surgeons, nurses, therapists and psychologists who have supported him along the way.

We're also grateful to Fiskens Fine Historic Automobiles in Kensington for welcoming Ernestas to their historic showroom, providing a valuable opportunity to build confidence and independence beyond the hospital setting.

Ernestas' journey is a powerful reminder of what's possible through perseverance, compassion and multidisciplinary care. 💙
