Today, the Nuffield Trust has published a report on long waits for a hospital bed in an emergency. The problem of long waits is not new, and it is time we saw real action to tackle it.
The report includes many shocking statistics highlighting the disproportionate effect of the issue on older people. In February this year, for example, 43% of patients aged over 80 who were admitted spent 12 hours or more in A&E from arrival to admission. Read our response here: https://buff.ly/CI1RkYD
