💙 We're proud to announce the sponsors supporting the 2026 gesh CARE Awards.

Thanks to the generosity of our hospital charities and local business sponsors, we'll once again celebrate the incredible NHS staff and volunteers who go above and beyond across St George's, Epsom and St Helier Hospitals Group, with no NHS funding used for the event.

With more than 800 nominations received, judging is now underway, and we can't wait to celebrate our finalists and winners in September.

A huge thank you to all of our sponsors for helping make this year's awards possible. 🌟

Three truckloads. Around 600 plants. And our very own Wimbledon-style queue! 🪴

It's that time of year again when staff, patients and visitors at St George's Hospital have the chance to take home their very own piece of The Championships.

A huge thank you to Wimbledon for once again donating hundreds of beautiful plants to our hospital.

'Wimbledon Plant Day' has become a key date in the calendar among hospital staff, patients and visitors and it is so wonderful to see the hospital overtaken with greenery that will brighten wards, offices and homes long after the tournament has finished.

Spotlight on some young superstar supporters⭐

When Harry broke his arm, the kind staff at St George's, Epsom and St Helier Hospitals Group looked after him. A few weeks later Harry, Ben, Kai, Will, Poppy and Ollie (all aged just 6 to 9), organised their own homemade cookie and Pokémon card sale for the hospital!

Their thoughtful idea and big-hearted generosity raised an amazing £130. A wonderful example of how kindness can ripple through a whole community.

Huge well done and thank you to these star fundraisers 😊

Gathering Leaves by Anita Klein is our Artwork of the Month for July 2026! Chosen by staff from the Respiratory Physiotherapy and Haemoncology team.

The team said that they enjoyed this artwork’s themes of connecting with nature. The figure isn't wearing gloves or using tools, instead they are scooping up the leaves with their bare hands. Staff also liked the autumnal colours of the leaves.

This artwork can be found in Atkinson Morley Wing at St George's Hospital.

We highlight different artwork each month as part of our project 'Our Hospital: conserving, curating and responding to St George's Art and Heritage Collection' - funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund.

Not too long ago, Bertie hosted a charity football match to support St George’s as a special way to mark the end of his treatment for leukaemia. St George’s is one of the two hospitals that has been caring for him throughout his journey, making this fundraiser especially meaningful to him.

On the day, Bertie raised an incredible £1,605 with wonderful support from friends and the local community. As a way to say thank you for the amazing care he received on Pickney Ward, his fundraising is going towards our Time For a Change appeal - helping to transform two of our children’s wards, including the one he was a young patient on.

Congratulations, Bertie - you absolutely smashed it! 🏆⚽

The time for change is now. 💜

Thanks to your incredible support of our Time for a Change children's appeal, work is now underway on transforming our first children's ward- Nicholls Ward.

To mark this exciting milestone, we brought together charity and hospital staff, supporters and former patients on the empty ward to celebrate the start of its transformation.

The refurbished ward will feature brighter, more welcoming spaces, new flooring and lighting, improved play and recreation areas, more comfortable staff facilities, and significantly more en-suite bathrooms for children and their families.

Speaking on the empty ward Sijo Francis, Chief Medical Officer at St George's, said:

"St George's is your hospital. It's the place families turn to when they need help the most, and we owe it to every child to make that experience as positive as possible.

"This project has only been possible because of the time, generosity and commitment of so many people. From the bottom of my heart, thank you."

This is an incredible moment, but our work isn't over. We're halfway to our £5 million goal, and we still need your help to transform neighbouring Pinckney Ward too.

Together, we can make sure every child at St George's is cared for in an environment that matches the exceptional care they receive. Read more and support the appeal: https://www.stgeorgeshospitalcharity.org.uk/news/work-begins-on-transforming-st-georges-childrens-ward
