What is lymphoedema?

Lymphoedema is a long-term condition that causes swelling due to a build-up of fluid and other substances. It most commonly affects the arms and legs and can increase the risk of serious infections if left untreated.

Specialising in the treatment of lymphoedema, Mr Vimal Gokani, consultant plastic and reconstructive surgeon, is dedicated to helping patients feel like themselves again using an approach that restores comfort, confidence and quality of life.

Mr Gokani is also a member of the Educational Programme Committee of The American Society of Plastic Surgery.

Last year, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust was one of the first NHS trusts in London to offer Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty (ESG), a minimally invasive treatment option for people living with obesity.

We’re proud to now offer ESG through Imperial College Healthcare Private Care.

We provide specialist private care for children and young people from across the UK and around the world, based at the Lindo Wing, St Mary’s Hospital.

As part of a leading teaching hospital, we have access to a full range of advanced diagnostics allowing us to create the most appropriate treatment pathway for your child from the very start.

Our services include world-renowned paediatric haematology and allergy care, alongside a wide range of paediatric specialisms.

Meet Mr Nic Alexander, consultant neonatal and paediatric surgeon, specialising in:

• general paediatric surgery (including hernia, tongue-tie, undescended te**es)
• circumcision
• surgery for complex haemoglobinopathies
• neonatal surgery
• vascular access

Mr Alexander trained at Cambridge and UCL, completed his paediatric surgery training in London, and undertook fellowships at the Royal Marsden Hospital and MD Anderson Cancer Center (Houston, Texas).
