Prioritise Your Health 🙏🏼
Often in the daily grind of life, our health gets sacrificed, after all, we must prioritise. We can’t abandon work because we must get ahead, preparing nutritious food may be seen as time-consuming, so we order takeaways or skip meals, postpone hitting the gym “who has time for that”, getting enough sleep is a luxury and taking time out to give our racing mind a break is impossible. It is easy for life to take over and for our health to fall by the wayside, but every day is a new opportunity for us to make a new start. The benefits and returns of being fit and healthy may not be completely obvious, to start what we put in our body has a direct impact on how we feel physically and mentally. Consuming a diet predominately made of processed foods and refined sugars may give us the short-term dopamine spike but will leave us tired and less focused in the long run. Think about a time when you ate well and how that made you feel! Now exercise is one of the simplest most effective instant feel-good boosters. In addition to strengthening our hearts, lungs and muscles, a huge body of research shows regular physical activity improves mental health, reduces anxiety and stress, and improves memory. Lastly consider how even a single sleepless night can make us moody and irritable, it is no surprise chronic sleep deprivation leads to anxiety and depression. Getting enough sleep helps us focus, be more productive and be creative. I’m not a big fan of motivation Mondays and getting all pumped thinking we can change everything in an instant! We can switch our mindset for sure but pick one area you can work on this week and make a small win there 💪🏼
