At our Care Home, great things happen when communities come together.

The team recently welcomed volunteers from the Sustainable Wantage Group, alongside pupils from a local school, to help care for the home's wild garden.

From planting and tidying to maintaining this special outdoor space, their efforts will help the garden continue to flourish for residents, local wildlife and future generations to enjoy.

Thank you to everyone involved, especially our Green Champion, Sharon, for helping make this fantastic community partnership possible.

Together, they're creating a greener, more vibrant environment that benefits both residents and the wider community. 💚

Seeing Birchwood Heights through our residents' eyes. ❤️

One of our residents recently showed us some of their favourite spaces around the home, including the home's beautiful gardens, welcoming entrance and the special touches that make Birchwood Heights feel like home.

A lovely display created by a resident's family also helps provide a warm welcome to everyone who visits.

Moments like these remind us that it is the people, friendships and shared experiences that make our care home community so special. 💙

It’s hard to believe that our Care Home has only recently opened its doors.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen friendships flourish over tea and cake, enjoyed plenty of laughter during quizzes and games, shared favourite songs, and celebrated those little moments that can brighten someone's day, from salon visits to gentle walks outdoors.

What has stood out most is the strong sense of community already growing within our home. Seeing residents, families, friends and team members come together to share stories, make memories and enjoy each other's company has been truly special, and we're excited for everything still to come.

💙 Meet Syra | Team Thursday

This week, we're introducing Syra, our Receptionist at our Care Home.

As one of the first friendly faces people see when they arrive, Syra helps create a warm and welcoming environment for residents, families and visitors alike. From supporting families and visitors to spending time chatting with residents, she plays an important part in daily life at the home.

For Syra, the most rewarding part of her role is building meaningful connections with residents and getting to know the wonderful people who make Harpenden Springs such a special community.

🌱 Supporting the local community through action and sustainability 🌱

Team members from our Care Home recently spent the day volunteering at the wonderful https://ow.ly/7OPb50ZVqoY Community Garden, helping to maintain and enhance this much-loved local space. From clearing planters and weeding flower beds to harvesting fruit and vegetables for visitors to enjoy and building a new compost bin, it was a fantastic day filled with teamwork and community spirit.

The team was also delighted to be joined by resident Margaret, whose passion for sustainability and environmental initiatives made the day even more special. Her involvement highlights how residents continue to stay connected to the causes they care about while making a positive contribution to their local community.

A huge thank you to everyone who gave their time, energy and enthusiasm to support this wonderful initiative. 💚

There's no greater compliment than hearing from the families who trust us with the care of their loved ones.

Sarah shares how reassuring it is to know her mum, Wendy, is receiving excellent care at our Care Home, and that her family is always welcomed and supported by our team. A huge thank you to the White Cross Inn in Sidcup and its customers for raising £1,000 for residents at Birchwood Heights Care Home.💙

The donation will help fund dementia-friendly resources, activities and experiences, including additions to the home's resident pub, games and memory-making activities that support wellbeing and bring people together.
