If I were to list the restrictions we’d be here for a while 😅 so instead, we shift our perspectives and focus on the possible.

Lately I’ve been feeling sooooo dehydrated 🥲

I don’t know if it’s the warmer weather, the fact I’ve been a lot more active recently, or a combination of both… but I’ve definitely noticed it & I’ve suffered the consequences 😭

Dehydration is one of my biggest crisis triggers. It’s not something I can afford to ignore, so as soon as I notice the signs, I have to make a conscious effort to rest & rehydrate.

So, if you’re anything like me and could do a better job of drinking more water, take this as your friendly reminder to have a drink. Your body will thank you!!

Also… I clearly have an obsession with reusable water bottles. How many do you own? We listen & we don’t judge 👀😂

I feel so grateful to be in the position I’m currently in, and I appreciate all the support that this amazing community gives me 😩♥️

It must actually be nice tho 😭

From my experience, sickle cell crisis pain is not one that can be, or should be firmed. There have been toooooo many times where I’ve ignored my pain hoping that it’ll pass, only for it to get worse 😭

Safe to say, I’m jealous of you “normal” folk 😂

“It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop.” — Confucius

If I showed you what I looked like last year… just know that showing up for yourself and being consistent works!

This example of push-ups is a small one, but the same principle applies to all areas of life. The more you do something, the better you get.

And yes, having a condition like sickle cell makes it harder, but it doesn’t make it impossible!!!

So my advice is: don’t be ignorant. Factor in whatever limitations you may have, but don’t let them stop you. Keep working towards your goals in a way that’s sustainable for you, and with time, you’ll see the improvements! 💪🏽

🌍🩸

Just another reason why June is the best month 🙌🏽😜

On World Sickle Cell Day (and every day after), I want to encourage action. There are so many ways to show up for this amazing community. Whether that’s learning more, sharing information, donating your time, money…or blood 😌, or simply showing up for someone living with sickle cell, it all makes a difference.

The sickle cell community makes me so proud man, and I want us to be encouraged by all that we’ve been able to accomplish. We’ve come a long way, and there’s still so much more we can achieve together.

And to those who support us, thank you so, so much. We appreciate you more than you know ♥️

D I D Y O U K N O W ?

You honestly can’t afford to start a family without having the necessary conversations around family planning.

The conversations you avoid now could later come back to bite you.

I know too many families who took what felt like a “small risk” and later regretted not planning ahead. When both parents have the AS genotype, every single pregnancy carries a risk of the child having sickle cell.

So please, if you don’t know it already, find out your genotype & have the necessary conversations with your loved ones 🤍

It’s the dichotomy of it all 😂😭😭

What would you say is the most misunderstood thing about having sickle cell?
