Many people assume that rhinoplasty is simply about removing cartilage to make the nose smaller.
In reality, rhinoplasty procedures commonly involve adding cartilage to strengthen and support the nose.
Cartilage grafts can be used to rebuild structural support, improve breathing, refine the shape of the nose, and help maintain long-term stability. They are particularly valuable in Revision Rhinoplasty, Reconstructive Rhinoplasty, and cases where previous surgery, trauma, or disease has weakened the nasal framework.
Depending on the individual case, cartilage may be taken from the septum, ear, or rib and carefully shaped to provide the support needed.
A successful rhinoplasty isn't always about making the nose smaller. Often, it's about creating a nose that is stronger, more stable, and functions better.
As both an ENT and Facial Plastic Surgeon, Mr Florian Bast carefully considers both the appearance and function of the nose when planning surgery.
