It turns out that England footballer Ellen White had a lung puncture (pneumothorax) while having acupuncture for back problems. Her club Manchester City just said it got an external specialist to do the acupuncture, which leads me to ask, what kind of specialist? Someone who had 30 hours of acupuncture training (BMAS folks like GPs and chiropractors), 300 hours (AACP, chartered physiotherapists who also do acupuncture)? Or a traditional acupuncturist like British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) members who need 3,500 hours of training to qualify? Not all acupuncturists are equal.
