A little box of memories 🧵❤️

My daughter found this box this evening, full of lace, fabric scraps and little trinkets I’d collected when I was studying textile design.

We had such a lovely time going through it all — and now she’s going to use some of the pieces herself.

It made me think about all the little parts of ourselves we put away when life gets busy.

Is there something you used to love doing that you’d like to rediscover?

HRT patches on the beach ☀️

Many of my patients are concerned about how they can hide their patches swimming. I used to worry about my HRT patches showing outside my swimsuit.

Now? I really don’t care.

They’re medicine. They help me feel like myself, so why should I be embarrassed about them?

My 3-year-old niece spotted mine and asked why I had “plasters” stuck to me all the time 😂

I simply told her: “They’re medicine patches.”

No shame. No hiding. Just a normal part of looking after my body.

And maybe that’s exactly how we should see them. ❤️

There’s something special about getting lost in a good book on holiday, thank you Huma Qureshi | Author + creative writing teacher — no rushing, no emails, just being present.

During the menopause, when busy thoughts, anxiety and poor sleep can make it hard to switch off, these little moments of mindfulness can be really valuable.

You don’t need 20 minutes of meditation. Sometimes mindfulness is simply putting your phone down, opening a book and allowing yourself to be in the moment.

Read. Rest. Breathe. Enjoy. 💛

Loved spending this afternoon drawing and painting. I sketched this whilst away with my menopause GP’s recently.

Having time to take a break allowed me to do something I really enjoy. Before I studied medicine I did a degree and textile design and love having the chance to go back to this once in a while.

What hobbies do you enjoy when you have time?

Today we came together as a team for an inspiring afternoon of staff training and development.
We spent time reflecting on our practice motto and exploring how we can bring kindness into everything we do. 💙 Kindness isn’t just something we teach—it’s at the heart of how we care for our patients, support our families, and encourage one another every single day.

It was a wonderful opportunity to share ideas, learn together, and strengthen our commitment to creating a nurturing, positive environment for everyone.

To finish the day, we enjoyed a well-deserved staff BBQ! 🌭☀️ A perfect way to celebrate our amazing team and the dedication they show every day.

Here’s to learning, growing, and leading with kindness together. 💙

Healthy eating in menopause doesn’t have to mean cooking separate meals. 🌿☀️

I often find it hard to think of inspiration though! So any ideas welcome!

When the weather is hot, I try and keep family meals simple, colourful and packed with nutrients that support women through menopause.

Today’s table is full of:
🥗 Protein to support muscle and metabolism
🥬 Fibre-rich vegetables for gut and hormone health
🥑 Healthy fats to keep you satisfied
🥚 Eggs for protein and key nutrients
🍅 Colourful vegetables packed with antioxidants
💧 Plenty of water to stay hydrated

Hot flushes and heat can make heavy meals feel uncomfortable, so fresh, balanced meals like this are often exactly what the body needs.

What’s your favourite family summer meal?👇

I had the privilege of stepping away from the clinic to spend time with an incredible group of women doctors who share my passion for menopause medicine. 🙏
Thank you Dr. Claire Phipps BSC MBBS MRCGP for being such a wonderful host — and for the brilliant company of Women’s Health and Menopause GP, Sarah Ball, The Hormone Pharmacist, Zoe , and Diane Danzebrink.

As clinicians, we’re so often heads-down in consultations, admin, the relentless pace of practice. We rarely give ourselves permission to stop.
This weekend gave me that space. 💛

We talked honestly about:
✅ How to improve our clinics — for our patients and ourselves
✅ Sustainable practice & protecting our own wellbeing
✅ The wins, the hard days, and everything in between
There is something quietly transformative about being truly heard by people who walk the same path.

I came home with fresh ideas, renewed energy, and a reminder:
Community is not a luxury. It’s a necessity.

Beach walks 🌊 early morning runs 🏃‍♀️ delicious food 🍽️ and a lot of shopping 🛍️ were absolutely obligatory.

If you’re a clinician who’s never made time for this kind of peer connection, find your people. It matters more than you think. 💙

🩺 Today’s learning: Menopause is so much more than hot flushes.

Here’s what the evidence actually says 👇

🦴 Bone health— HRT is anti-resorptive, just like bisphosphonates. If you’re at risk of osteopenia and under 60 with symptoms, it’s a valid option.

🩸 Clot risk— Beverley Hunt Consultant haematologist, ‘Transdermal HRT carries no increased VTE risk even in high-risk patients.’ The route of delivery matters more than most people realise.

🫘 Kidneys— The kidney is the most estrogen-responsive organ outside the reproductive tract. Yet kidney outcomes are missing from almost all HRT research. Women with CKD reach menopause 3–5 years earlier. We need to do better.

🦠 Recurrent UTI’s— Vaginal oestrogen is the most effective non-antibiotic prevention tool for postmenopausal women. It’s underused, undersold, and life-changing for many.

💬 Menopause intersects with autoimmune disease, kidney disease, thrombosis, bone health, and mental health. It’s a whole-body event — and it deserves whole-body care.
