☀️👶 Keeping little ones safe in the summer heat 🌡️💛

Hot weather can be tough on babies, so here are a few simple ways to help keep them cool and comfortable:

✅ Keep rooms between 16–20°C when possible
✅ Dress baby in light, breathable clothing
✅ Never cover prams with blankets — airflow is important
✅ Check baby’s chest or back of neck to see if they’re too warm
✅ Offer plenty of fluids to prevent dehydration
✅ Always follow safer sleep guidance, even on holiday

A cool baby is a happy baby 💕

☀️Here’s a great reminder of how to keep your Babies, Toddlers & Children safe in the sun ☀️
Keeping children safe in the sun helps protect their skin now and in the future

👶 Babies under 6 months
✅Keep out of direct sunlight
✅Use shade, wide-brimmed hats and loose, long-sleeved clothing

👶 Babies over 6 months, toddlers & children ✅Use SPF 30+ (or higher) sunscreen
✅Apply generously and reapply every 2 hours, and after swimming
✅Wear hats, sunglasses and protective clothing
✅Encourage play in the shade, especially between 11am-3pm
✅Keep children hydrated with regular drinks

Remember: Sunburn in childhood increases the risk of skin damage later in life 🧡

☀️Summer is definitely in the air and the weather is set to warm up even more this week!

🛏️It can be tricky to know what to put your baby to bed in on warmer evenings so here’s a useful guide to help you decide.

The best way to check if your baby is too warm is be feeling their chest or the back of their neck and if they feel very warm and clammy, remove a layer.

Please SHARE this post with any parents of babies who may find it helpful. Please remember, this is just a guide.

☀️ Important Safety Reminder for Parents & Carers ☀️

As the summer heats up, it might seem like a good idea to cover your baby’s pram with a blanket to keep the sun out—but this can actually be very dangerous.

Covering a pram, even with a light cloth, can cause the temperature inside to rise rapidly—creating a greenhouse effect. Studies show that within minutes, it can become much hotter inside the pram than outside, putting your baby at risk of overheating, dehydration, and even heatstroke.

🔍 What you can do instead:
✅ Use a sunshade or pram umbrella designed for airflow
✅ Stick to light, breathable baby clothing
✅ Keep checking on your baby regularly
✅ Walk in the shade where possible
✅ Stay indoors during peak heat hours

Let’s keep our little ones safe and cool this summer! 💛

🛁 Baby bath seats are convenience items, NOT safety devices. 🛁

It’s easy to think that because a baby is propped up and smiling, they are safe for a quick second while you grab a towel or answer the door. But the truth is, a baby can slip out or a seat can tip over in the blink of an eye.

Drowning is quick, silent, and can happen in just a few inches of water.

The golden rule of bath time:
❌ Never leave your baby unattended, even for a single moment.
✅ Gather everything you need (towel, soap, clean diaper) before the water starts running.
✅ Always stay within arm's reach.

Let's keep bath time fun, sweet, and above all, safe. 💕
