People living with SMI (severe mental illness) typically die younger than the general population, by up to 20 years, often due to preventable physical health causes.

Dulcie Wood, our Physical Health Care Matron at the Trust, led a project to ensure that people within our inpatient services access the physical health care they need and deserve.

Launching a pilot project called 'Inpatient Physical Health Team', Dulcie helped to upskill mental health nurses, providing them with the confidence to provide physical health care alongside mental health care.
