Watching an adult client step out of a heavy cocoon of trauma and safely find her way back to emotional freedom is a profound blessing. The most beautiful part of this 12-week journey was seeing her psychological healing clear the path for her spiritual realignment, allowing her to comfortably return to her daily Salah.

Why I do this work.

Hearing that a child has become more open, confident, and better able to communicate what they are feeling is everything.

Listening to hear, not to respond.

In busy households, it is incredibly easy to accidentally slide into “fixing mode” or offer lectures the moment our children share a worry.

True active listening means stepping back, reflecting their feelings, and letting the conversation be truly child-led. When we give a young person uninterrupted presence, we show them that their voice possesses immense value.

Taking Action over our Thoughts

“Is it in my control?” 🧭🧠

This Mental Health Awareness Week, our Sakinah Teens are taking action by learning the “Circle of Control.”

In life, there are so many things we cannot change (the weather, what others say, the past). When we focus on these, our battery drains quickly. 🔋

But when we focus on what IS in our control:
✅ How I respond.
✅ How I treat others.
✅ How I look after my own wellbeing.
..we find our Sakinah (tranquillity).

“Health is Health.” — Why we check the battery.

If we had a physical injury, we wouldn’t think twice about resting, seeking help, and following a recovery plan. We need to treat our mental wellbeing with that same level of care and priority.

Strength Looks Like Care.

In my professional training, I’ve learned that “care” isn’t just a feeling; it’s a proactive Action.

🔋 Care for yourself: Recognising when your internal battery is low and giving yourself permission to recharge.
🤝 Care for others: Being that non-judgmental, validating presence for a friend or child who might be struggling.

Reaching out isn’t a sign of weakness—it’s the ultimate act of strength. Whether you are supporting someone else or navigating your own journey back to inner peace, remember: you are enough, exactly as you are.
