💪 Why wait until Monday to start exercising?

Friday is the perfect day to get moving! Regular exercise isn't just about fitness—it plays a vital role in keeping your body strong, healthy, and less prone to injury.

From a physiotherapy perspective, exercise can help:
✅ Improve muscle strength and joint stability
✅ Enhance balance and coordination, reducing the risk of falls
✅ Increase flexibility and mobility
✅ Improve posture and movement patterns
✅ Support healthy bones, muscles, and joints
✅ Reduce aches and stiffness
✅ Boost circulation and aid recovery
✅ Improve mood, energy levels, and sleep quality

The stronger and more conditioned your body is, the better it can cope with the demands of daily life, sport, and recreation.

Start small if you need to—every step, stretch, or workout counts. Your future self will thank you!

🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ Are you a keen runner?

The right footwear is essential to help absorb impact and reduce stress on your joints, keeping you comfortable and helping to prevent injury.

💧 Hydration is just as important. Recent scenes at Roland Garros highlighted how challenging warm conditions can be, with players struggling in the heat. As we've seen this week, the weather can quickly change from sunshine to rain, so it's important to stay prepared and listen to your body.

Whether you're training for a race or enjoying a weekend jog, make sure your shoes fit well, stay hydrated, and run safely!

🌸 Gardening season is well and truly here! 🌿☀️

There’s nothing better than getting outside in the sunshine and keeping your garden looking beautiful. However, as physiotherapists, we do see a rise in back-related injuries at this time of year from enthusiastic gardeners spending long periods bending, lifting and digging.

A few simple tips can help keep you gardening safely:

🌱 Avoid bending forwards for long periods — this can place excessive strain on the lower back
🧎 Use a kneeling pad where possible to reduce stress on your back and knees
⏰ Take regular breaks and change position frequently
🪴 Be careful lifting heavy pots and bags of compost
🏋️ When lifting, bend your knees, widen your stance and keep the load close to your body

A little extra care now can help prevent painful injuries later and keep you enjoying your garden all summer long 🌼

Take care and enjoy the sunshine!

🎾 The tennis season is truly here! ☀️

What an exciting few months ahead for tennis players and fans alike, with the clay courts of Roland Garros, the build-up at Lexus Eastbourne, and of course the iconic Wimbledon Championships all taking place across May, June and July.

There’s always something special about this time of year — longer days, grass courts, strawberries and cream, and the excitement of watching the world’s best players compete on some of the biggest stages in tennis 🌿🏆

It’s also the time many of us dust off our own tennis rackets and head back onto the courts!

Whether you’re playing competitively, enjoying social tennis, or simply watching from the sidelines, we hope everyone enjoys a fantastic summer of tennis ahead 🎾

☀️ This lovely weather has many of us heading back outdoors and getting active again! 🎾⛳🌿🚶

Whether it’s tennis, golf, padel, gardening, long walks or simply being more active in the sunshine, it’s fantastic to get moving and enjoy the benefits of exercise and fresh air.

But if you’re returning to activities you haven’t done for a while, it’s important to ease yourself back in carefully to avoid aches, strains and injuries.

A few simple tips from the team at Physio Fitness:

✅ Warm up and stretch before activity
👟 Make sure you’re wearing the right footwear
🏌️ Take extra care with your back when golfing or gardening
💧 Stay hydrated in the heat
📈 Build up gradually — don’t try to do too much too soon

Your body will thank you for it!

Enjoy the sunshine and stay active safely 🌞

If you sit at a desk all day and constantly feel:

stiff through the neck
tight shoulders
headaches
lower back pain
uncomfortable after driving

…you’re definitely not the only one.

We see this every week in clinic.

The good news:
your body usually doesn’t need “perfect posture” — it needs better movement, strength, recovery and load management.

Small changes early on can stop minor pain becoming a long-term issue.

If something keeps returning or is affecting your work, sleep or training, it’s worth getting assessed properly.

📩 Feel free to message us with any questions — even if you’re unsure whether physio is the right fit.

Most people don’t come to physio after the first flare-up.
They come after months of:

“hoping it settles”
stretching constantly
avoiding exercise
putting up with it at work

The problem?
Pain that keeps returning usually needs more than rest.

At our clinic, we focus on:
✔ understanding why it keeps happening
✔ reducing pain properly
✔ helping you move confidently again
✔ getting you back to normal life — without fear of making it worse

If your back, neck, shoulder or knee pain keeps coming back, it’s worth getting checked rather than waiting for it to become unbearable.

📩 Give us a call if you’re not sure whether physio would help — happy to point you in the right direction.

🎾 Tennis Season is Here! 🎾

With courts getting busier and more people picking up their rackets again, we often see a rise in tennis-related injuries at this time of year — especially in the shoulders, elbows, wrists, knees, back, and neck.

Whether you’re a regular player or just getting back into the sport, a few simple steps can help reduce your risk of injury and keep you playing pain-free 👇

From a physio’s perspective, these are key:
🎾 Warm up properly before playing
🎾 Stretch your shoulders, back, hips, and legs regularly
🎾 Wear supportive tennis footwear with good grip and cushioning
🎾 Make sure your racket is suitable for you
🎾 Check your grip width and string tension — the wrong setup can contribute to elbow, wrist, and shoulder problems
🎾 Build up gradually if you haven’t played in a while

Tennis places repetitive stress on both the upper and lower limbs, and poor preparation or equipment can often lead to injuries such as:
✔️ Tennis elbow
✔️ Shoulder strains
✔️ Knee pain
✔️ Achilles issues
✔️ Back and neck pain

If pain or stiffness is affecting your game, our experienced MSK physios can help assess, treat, and guide you back to playing comfortably and confidently 💪

Stay active, stay strong, and enjoy the season! ☀️🎾
