There are many reasons why you might be bleeding outside of your period, and while it's unlikely to be caused by a serious or life threatening health problem, it is important to tell a gynaecologist, as abnormal bleeding is just that – abnormal.

A few causes of abnormal bleeding include:
• Hormonal imbalance
• Ovarian cyst
• Endometriosis
• Polycystic o***y syndrome (PCOS)
• Pregnancy

"You reminded me that I wasn't alone and I will carry that with me for a very long time. Thank you for being such an incredible human being and for doing what you do with so much heart.”

Such beautiful flowers! We’d like to thank this patient for their kind words and for this lovely gift. It was such a thoughtful gesture and meant a lot to Ava.

At The Gynae Centre, we understand that good healthcare is about more than just clinical expertise. It’s about showing up with kindness, compassion, and real understanding. And we’re so glad that Ava was there to offer her help and support.

Menopause marks a new stage of hormonal change, and with it can come questions about how existing conditions may be affected. If you have PCOS, you might be wondering whether symptoms ease once periods stop.

While some women do notice changes after menopause, PCOS doesn’t automatically disappear. Ongoing symptoms and long-term health risks can still be present, making continued awareness and specialist support important.

Our consultant gynaecologists are experienced in managing PCOS at every life stage, offering personalised assessments and evidence-based care to support your health through menopause and beyond.

A colposcopy is often the recommended next step in a few situations, including after an abnormal smear or HPV result, bleeding after s*x, unusual discharge that continues after treatment, or if the cervix looks different during an examination.

Its main purpose is reassuring: to rule out precancerous changes early and, if needed, guide a precise biopsy for a clear diagnosis. Early answers mean more options and faster care.

If any of this sounds familiar, you don't have to join a waiting list or wait weeks to be seen. At The Gynae Centre there's no waiting list, and appointments are available within 24 to 48 hours.

Book today on 020 7580 8090.

Please note: our colposcopy package is £500. If a biopsy is required, this is at an additional charge.

Your scan came back normal. So why do you still feel like something is off?

The irregular periods. The acne along your jaw. Hair appearing where you do not want it, and thinning where you do. You pushed for a scan, and were told everything looks fine.

Here is what often gets missed: a normal ultrasound does not mean nothing is wrong. You can have PMOS, the condition many still know as PCOS, even when your scan is completely clear. It is driven by hormones, not by what shows up on a screen. In fact, a diagnosis needs only two of three signs, and cysts on a scan are just one of them.

Being dismissed is not the same as being reassured.

Save this for the next time you are told "your scan is normal," and share it with someone who has been brushed off. Our latest article breaks down exactly what can be missed, and why.

Yes, PMOS (PCOS) without cysts exists, and women are being dismissed by their GPs because their scans look normal. Read on to learn more.
