“Although people often assume I have a link to fashion or fashion history, it is simply my daily choice of clothing! Heaven knows where it came from, as my mother lives in jeans and has not even possessed a skirt for twenty years. So, it was a great surprise to her when I showed
determined dress opinions from an early age.
I went to full-time ballet school, wanting to be a dancer, until 12 when my ill health made it clear I could not pursue that. I never danced again from that moment.
However, dependency on dressmakers and tailors began because it was hard to find clothes that fitted well, being small. Now I cannot imagine any other way!
If one finds a maker who understands one’s look and life, it is
a marvellous experience.
