Congratulations to Royal Brompton colleagues Ethan Singer and Zander Williams on securing prestigious early-career research fellowships from Asthma + Lung UK and the British Thoracic Society.

They are the first colleagues from our hospitals to receive this pre-doctoral fellowship, which supports clinicians and researchers to develop their research skills and take the next step towards a PhD.

Ethan will investigate how we measure the impact of airway clearance techniques for people living with long-term lung conditions, including bronchiectasis and cystic fibrosis.

Zander will explore breathlessness during physical activity, particularly in people with large airway collapse.

Their research highlights the importance of investing in early-career researchers and developing the evidence that can shape the future of respiratory care.

This week, we’re reflecting on the extraordinary impact of organ donation.
We were honoured to welcome Dave Webb, one of our transplant recipients, who shared his inspiring story with Trust staff.

In 2019, Dave received a donor heart at Harefield Hospital. He spoke about how the gift of organ donation, alongside the expertise and care of our transplant teams, transformed and extended his life. Dave has since gone on to compete in the Transplant Games and even composed an anthem for the event. His story is a powerful reminder of the difference one decision can make.
