Remember breath is energy. Taking in more breath is charging, increasing vitality and aliveness. Letting out breath is discharging, it facilitates the release of tension, stress and anything else we want to get out of our body systems.

Think about it when doing breathwork, you are not merely inhaling oxygen and exhaling carbon dioxide, you are also regulating your general state and your nervous system.

In yoga, breath awareness is essentially awareness of the vital life force energy (Prana) that permeates the whole universe, animating all living beings and powering physical, mental and energetic activity. The breathing techniques are the practical ways with which we cultivate, harness and balance this energetic force and vitality in our physical body.

Yoga also teaches us how to focus our attention on our breathing in a way that allows us to strengthen our sentient awareness of the infinite energetic potential of Prana.

Yoga stimulates our conscious awareness and our ability to reflect on our world, our societal norms, our lifestyle and our connection to Earth and to all that is. One thing that is worth reflecting on, which has a massive impact on our planet is our consumerism lifestyle.
We live in a consumerism society. We live to consume which comes with its own contradicting effect is that we buy and we don't even consume. We just buy. This is the ultimate peak of the consumerism lifestyle. There's only that much we can consume so what is left is an addiction to purchasing and owning something even if we are not going to consume it. This is fulfilling capitalism. Pouring money into businesses that constantly need to grow. The end consuming doesn't matter much. What really matters is making profit and increase revenue. The only thing that matters is that you buy, whether you consume it or not. And so what happens next is increase of waste. We buy things that we don't really need and we don't end up using or consuming and as a result more waste is generated which we don't have capacity to handle.
Lavish lifestyle, excessive consumerism, excessive waste. Irresponsible capitalism. All have culminated in the global mess that we experience today and which contributes to climate change and affects the health of our planet and all living beings.
Reduce consumption. Stop buying things that you don't need it. Consume and buy from ethical businesses. Support local businesses. You know what is good for our planet and what is harmful so take initiative and take positive action in your daily life. Don't wait for someone to show you the way. Don't wait for policies to change. You know the way to green, environmental and ecological lifestyle so start to make your own way now and trust that millions of beings are making their way too.

In Yoga, we accept and honor our body as a great vessel of wisdom and power.
Our body is sacred and full of wisdom, however throughout life we can develop a dislike and even a fear of our own body. Through illness, injury, trauma, chronic conditions and health ailments, our body becomes a source of pain, stress, fear and limitation and may start to no longer feel safe and stable.
We can use our yoga practice to observe and study our relationship to our own body.
Each pose becomes an opportunity to notice, when we trust or mistrust our body, when we respect or disrespect our body, when we nourish or when we neglect our body, when we nurture or when we deprive our body, when we accept or reject our body and when we push and impose limitations on our body, without any judgement just considering what is possible in the present moment awareness. If I become aware that I don't trust my body, what do I need to do to allow myself to trust my body? Can I allow myself to try the pose I think my body cannot do? Can I explore the perceptions and beliefs I hold about my own body?

Through a yoga practice we can develop a deeper connection with our body, fully recognising that our body is resilient, intelligent, agile and is source of power, strength and wisdom. Our body is a safe anchor and a safe home. It is always safe to be in our body. Through our yoga practice we learn to accept our body and recognise the sanctity of this great vessel of energy, consciousness, power and wisdom.

“The body is your temple, keep it pure and clean for your Spirit to reside in” B.K.S. Iyengar

The concept that the body is the temple of the soul is a fundamental yogic philosophy, famously articulated by B.K.S. Iyengar as, "The body is your temple, keep it pure and clean for your Spirit to reside in". Yoga practice serves to take care of and foster a deep connection with our body.

The body should be treated with respect, nurturing it through conscious movement, healthy, clean choices (Saucha), and rest.

Yoga is viewed not just as exercise, but as a method to cleanse the body to allow the mind to focus and the soul to flourish.

Neglecting the body can lead to feeling disconnected or "homeless" spiritually; maintaining it provides an anchor for the soul.

The goal of a consistent yoga practice is to cultivate a harmonious balance, where a strong, healthy body supports a clear mind and a peaceful soul

Turn stress into stillness
In this fast paced and chaotic world we need a regular practice that allows us to slow down and find stillness. In stillness the body and the mind can rest and our energy can be restored. In stillness we can regain mental clarity and emotional balance even in the midst of confusion and chaos.
Practice stillness to ease the stress and maintain your natural equilibrium.

We often experience unwanted, intrusive and impulsive thoughts. These thoughts can become even louder while meditating.
We can use meditation to recognise, acknowledge those thoughts and make a conscious decision as to how we choose to handle those thoughts in our daily lives.
Do I want to let go of those thoughts?
Do I want to carry on engaging with those thoughts?
What would the exact opposite thoughts be like and feel like ?
