LARGE INTESTINE TIME
the Large Intestine is a yang organ, and it is the ultimate disposal system; it is the expert in letting go and moving on, which explains why, when it isn’t working properly, people struggle with constipation (physically, of course, but also spiritually and mentally). hoarders, people who are afraid of the space that will be created by getting rid of something; people who live in a state of resentment, as they do not let go of any of the bad things that have happened to them.
the Large Intestine also serves the fundamental role of acknowledging the value in our experiences, before we waste them: on a physical level this means it will absorb the water in our system before we p**p, which will give the right colour and consistency in our stools. on a spiritual and mental level, it will gift us the ability to retain what’s of value in an experience that we simply have to move on from in order to be able to continue to live: the death of a child. the loss of a job. a traumatic encounter. or even just an annoying conversation that ticked us off the wrong way: however big or small, if we do not let go of these things we will just grow more and more resentful, which will inevitably spill over into our outlook on life in general: as something that is described, aptly, as “s**tty”.
swinging to the other extreme, we have people that have diarrhoea in their lives: nothing is held on to, nothing is valuable enough. we are not valuable enough. every life experience is disposed of, is perceived as worthless.
and you, do you carry your s**t with you all day, or do you let go of the waste in the morning? are you able to reset at the beginning of each day? do you step into the day freely and lightly, or weighted down?
people are frequently surprised when in our initial consultation i ask them about their bowel movements, but these can be so telling of the state of their imbalance: come find out more in the clinic.
