Most people I work with already know what might help.

They know they should rest.

They know they should slow down.

They know they should breathe, walk, journal, meditate or set better boundaries.

But when your nervous system doesn't feel safe, even the things that help can feel impossible.

That's why healing isn't just about learning new coping strategies.

It's about helping your body experience enough safety to actually use them.

You are not failing.

Your nervous system is protecting you.

🌿 Raise Your Calm

You do not need to be good at singing for this to support your nervous system 💚
One of the things I love about nervous system regulation is that sometimes the tools are beautifully simple.
Singing, humming, chanting, even quietly singing along to your favourite song can help stimulate the vagus nerve. This is one of the body’s key pathways involved in helping us move towards feelings of safety, connection and regulation.
Part of the reason it can help is because of the gentle vibration through the throat and chest, alongside the longer out breaths that naturally happen when we sing.
A client recently said to me:
“Ohhh… I didn’t realise humming along does the same thing!”
And honestly? Yes. It counts.
You don’t need a good voice. You don’t need to perform.
Hum in the car. Sing in the kitchen. Put headphones in and quietly mouth the words if that feels safer.
Small moments of regulation matter.
🎶 What song are you singing along to lately?

“My kids just fight constantly…”

Honestly? Sibling relationships can be really hard.

One minute they’re laughing together and the next they’re arguing over who breathed too loudly 🙃

And when it feels relentless, it can leave you completely drained.

I want to gently reframe something though…

Constant bickering doesn’t automatically mean you’re failing or that they’ll hate each other forever.

Siblings are learning some of life’s biggest skills in real time:

✨ navigating difference
✨ sharing space
✨ frustration tolerance
✨ repair after conflict
✨ boundaries
✨ emotional regulation

And let’s be honest, if nervous systems are stressed, tired, overwhelmed or feeling disconnected… things tend to escalate quickly.

Sometimes what looks like “they just can’t stand each other” is actually:

• different developmental stages
• competing needs
• sensory overwhelm
• nervous system dysregulation
• feeling misunderstood
• wanting connection but not having the skills yet

Something I say to parents a lot:

Don’t panic about every argument. Look for the pattern.

Is there rivalry? Jealousy? Transition times? Hunger? Fatigue? Feeling unfairly treated?

And sometimes…

The biggest thing we can do is stop trying to force the perfect “talk it through” moment and wait until everyone is regulated enough to actually hear each other.

Also, if no one has told you lately…

Trying to hold the emotions of multiple children at once is exhausting.

You’re not doing a bad job ❤️

Tell me honestly… what’s the hardest bit about sibling dynamics in your house right now?

You don’t struggle with boundaries because you’re weak

You struggle because
your body learned it wasn’t always safe to have needs

So you say yes
when you mean no

You over explain
so people don’t misunderstand you

You push through
and then feel resentful later

Not because you don’t care…
but because somewhere along the way
you stopped including yourself

I’ve made something for this

A free Boundaries Reflection + What To Say Guide

So in those moments where your mind goes blank
or your body says “just keep the peace”

You actually have words
you can come back to

Simple
real
and usable

If you want it

If you’ve been struggling with your child…
Feeling like nothing quite works…
Doubting yourself more than you’d like to admit…
I want you to know this gently…
It might not be what you think it is ❤️
So much of what we’re seeing in our children isn’t “bad behaviour”
It’s overwhelm
It’s nervous systems reaching capacity
It’s needs that don’t yet have words
And when we understand that… everything begins to shift
✨ Raise Your Tribe ✨
is an 8 week, small group course where we slow things down and make sense of it all
No judgement
No rigid rules
Just real understanding, practical tools, and support
We’ll look at: – What’s really happening in your child’s brain and body
– How your nervous system impacts theirs
– Connection, boundaries, and everyday moments that actually work
– Breaking patterns without blame
This is a pilot group, so it’s small, supportive, and really intentional
I now only have a couple of spaces left
If you’ve been feeling like something needs to change, this could be your moment to start differently

I left the education system because, deep down, I knew something wasn’t right.
Now it’s being said more openly.
Schools have become exam obsessed. Teachers are saying there’s too much focus on tests and not enough on real life skills.
But for me… it goes deeper.
This isn’t just about children leaving unprepared.
I’d argue we’re dysregulating them in the process.
We’re asking developing nervous systems to sit still for hours, suppress movement, override sensory needs, push down emotion, and perform under constant pressure.
Then we’re surprised when: – anxiety rises
– behaviour escalates
– children shut down
– or can’t cope
We’re also seeing a rise in EBSA.
Children aren’t just “refusing” school.
They’re voting with their feet.
Their nervous systems are saying: this doesn’t feel safe
this is too much
I can’t do this
So many children aren’t “naughty”.
They’re: – overwhelmed
– dysregulated
– sensory seeking
But instead of being understood, they’re labelled.
We’ve built a system that’s very good at sorting children…
but not very good at seeing them.
Because children who don’t feel safe, seen and supported
can’t access learning.
When we talk about rising mental health needs, this isn’t happening in isolation.
It’s happening within systems that prioritise outcomes over wellbeing.
I didn’t leave because I didn’t care.
I left because I care too much.
These children aren’t the problem.
They’re showing us the problem.

Here’s the part we don’t talk about enough…

Regulation keeps you from spiralling.
But it doesn’t lift you back up.

You can feel “okay”…
steady…
not overwhelmed…

…and still not feel like yourself.

That’s because your nervous system needs two things:

🌿 Regulation → to feel safe
✨ Joy → to feel alive

Breathing, grounding, slowing down…
They hold you.

But joy is what raises you.

The laughter.
The music in the kitchen.
The sun on your face.
The things that make you feel like you again.

So if you’re in that space of “I’m okay… but a bit flat”

This is your reminder:

Don’t just regulate.
Gently invite joy back in.

That’s how we move up the spiral 💫
