“Yes, I know I should… but.”
I hear some version of this almost every week.
I know I should exercise, but I don’t have time. I know I should eat better, but everyone else comes first. I know I should sleep more, but my brain doesn’t switch off until I’ve sorted everyone else’s day.
The problem isn’t always knowing what you should do.
Sometimes the more useful question is: what is the “but” actually telling you?
Because if you’ve spent years being the person who makes everything work for everyone else, simply being told to “prioritise yourself” isn’t particularly helpful.
That’s the conversation I’m exploring this week.
What does your “but” say?
