Muscle has an image problem. People think of it as vanity, or as something for the gym-obsessed. For women in midlife it is closer to insurance.
The research is consistent. Regular strength training is linked to a significantly lower risk of death from any cause, and it becomes more important, not less, as estrogen declines through menopause. Muscle protects your bones, your metabolism, your balance, and your ability to stay independent as you age.
You do not need to train hard for this. You need to train consistently. The body responds at any age.🦋
