It was an honour to take part in the 3rd annual Kings CICM Research Meeting, and present the outcomes of our NHS GP acupuncture referral service at King's College London NHS Health Centre and Belgravia Surgery.

Very pleased also to learn from so many esteemed researchers about latest developments in high-quality clinical research to support the development of integrative medicine, and the integration of acupuncture into primary care, cancer management, etc.

The concept of the "superior practitioner" or "superior physician" in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) stems from ancient classical texts, most notably the Huangdi Neijing (Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon), which distinguishes between different levels of medical expertise based on their approach to health, prevention, and curing illness.

The superior practitioner does not rely on patent prescriptions, but sees every and each person anew, with their unique, individual problem, and attends to that.

In a quiet corner of a busy teaching clinic, a student stands over a patient, needle poised. The tissue is dens...

What a weekend! We’re now over halfway through the Dermatology in Chinese Herbal Medicine Diploma, with a strong international cohort and excellent representation from RCHM members.

Under the guidance of Mazin Al‑Khafaji, students are working through some of the most challenging dermatological conditions seen in clinic, using rigorous differentiation and integrated internal and external Chinese Herbal Medicine strategies.

So far, the programme has covered:
- Complex inflammatory and autoimmune skin disorders
Formula construction and modification for chronic, treatment-resistant cases
- External applications: creams, washes, and soaks, matched precisely to internal patterns
- Clinical reasoning grounded in both classical theory and modern dermatology

The standard of discussion and case analysis in this internationally respected programme has been high. This is advanced clinical training, not superficial pattern-matching and it shows in the depth of Mazin's work.

Proud to be part of this community and this medicine.
