Sherwood Grange is a modern and luxurious care home in Kingston Vale, South London, offering high-quality residential, dementia and short-term respite care. Residents live active and fulfilled lives with a range of superb facilities, including a cinema, hair salon and coffee shop, which is the hub of the home. Plenty of garden space means residents can enjoy growing vegetables and flowers, or simply relax outside on sunny days. As well as stunning shared spaces, every resident has their own beautifully furnished en-suite bedroom. The team at Sherwood Grange always ensures that residents have something exciting to look forward to. They arrange an ambitious programme of activities and trips out and about.

A lovely day of art, nature and inspiration at Isabella Plantation in Richmond Park.

Residents enjoyed a special outing with our wonderfully talented art teacher, Georgiana, taking part in a life-painting session surrounded by the beautiful flowers, blossoms and peaceful woodland.

Isabella Plantation has a fascinating history, dating back to the 1830s, when the woodland was enclosed and planted with oak, beech and sweet chestnut trees. It opened to the public in 1953 and has since become one of Richmond Park’s most treasured spots, particularly known for its spectacular azaleas, rhododendrons, winding streams and tranquil ponds. It is a wonderful place to appreciate the changing seasons and the beauty of nature.

With so much natural beauty around, it was the perfect setting for our residents to pick up their paintbrushes and capture the scenery on canvas. With Georgiana offering guidance and encouragement, everyone could take inspiration from the colours, shapes and delicate details of the flowers, adding their own personal touch to their artwork.

On Tuesday, we took a little trip south to the beautiful Morden Hall Park for a change of scenery, fresh air and a lovely afternoon together.

Set along the River Wandle, Morden Hall Park has a fascinating history. What is now a peaceful green oasis was once a country estate, with the area recorded as far back as the Domesday Book. In the 19th century, the Hatfeild family developed the estate, while the river powered s***f mills which became an important part of the local industry. The park was eventually gifted to the National Trust in 1941, opening its beautiful grounds to the public after the Second World War.

Our residents enjoyed taking in the parkland, riverside scenery and historic surroundings before heading over to explore the National Trust’s garden centre. There was plenty to see, beautiful plants and flowers, gifts, homeware and gardening treasures and, of course, we couldn't resist discovering the aquarium tucked away within the garden centre.

We then settled down for a well-earned coffee and something delicious at the café, taking our time to chat, watch the world go by and enjoy each other’s company.

It was one of those lovely afternoons where the destination was only part of the experience. A little history, a little nature, plenty of conversation and, most importantly, time spent together.

After three wonderful years as part of the Sherwood Grange family, our Team Leader Anita is about to begin one of the most exciting chapters of her life... becoming a mum to a little boy.

To celebrate, we brought colleagues and residents together for a very special baby shower, planned as a surprise for Anita. The afternoon was filled with decorations, balloons, thoughtful gifts, a gorgeous cake and drinks, but what made it truly memorable was the people gathered around her.

Anita was completely surprised and genuinely delighted, and it was lovely to see just how much warmth and affection there is for her throughout the home. Residents and colleagues alike came together to share in her happiness, raise a glass and wish her and her growing family every happiness for the future.

For the past three years, Anita has been such an important part of life at Sherwood Grange. She has shared in countless moments with our residents and colleagues, and has become a familiar and much-loved face within the home. As she prepares to step into this new chapter, there is certainly a little sadness knowing that we will miss her presence, her energy and all the moments we have shared along the way.

But above all, this was an afternoon of happiness celebrating everything Anita has given to the home and, more importantly, celebrating what lies ahead for her.

Her little boy is already very much anticipated, although his name is still a closely guarded decision!

We wish Anita and her family all the love, happiness and precious moments that this new chapter will bring. We will miss you, Anita, but we couldn’t be happier for you.

Last Friday afternoon, we put down the paperwork, stepped away from our usual routines and turned Sherwood Grange into a little afternoon of food, fun, laughter and some surprisingly serious competition!

Our Staff Appreciation BBQ was a chance to celebrate our amazing team and say a very important THANK YOU for everything they do. We wanted everyone to know that their hard work, dedication and commitment never go unnoticed; and what better way to show our appreciation than with plenty of delicious food and a few fun challenges along the way!

With a delicious selection of burgers, skewers, fresh salads and vegetarian options being enjoyed throughout the afternoon. Our residents joined in too, enjoying their own BBQ meals while watching the fun unfold.

We decided to test our team's coordination with a good old-fashioned three-legged race. What sounded like a simple bit of fun quickly turned into a very competitive event!

There was plenty of laughter, some questionable running techniques and a few moments where staying upright became the main objective!

A huge congratulations to Konrad and Rashmika, who managed to work together, keep their balance and cross the finish line the fastest! Their prize? Some well-deserved bottles of Prosecco to celebrate their victory!

But the competition didn't stop there...

We also organised a special Easter egg-style hunt, with hidden black suns scattered around the garden for our staff to find. Everyone was sent off searching, and there was certainly no shortage of determination! After plenty of searching, we had our winner — Deepa! And, of course, Deepa went home with a box of chocolates as her prize.

Most importantly, it was all about our team.

Behind everything we do at Sherwood Grange is a team of people who work incredibly hard every day to provide care, companionship, kindness and support to our residents.

We know that care work can be challenging, and we also know that the little things our staff do every day can make a huge difference to someone's life. Their hard work doesn't go unnoticed, and we wanted to take some time to celebrate that.

A huge THANK YOU to every member of the Sherwood Grange team. We appreciate everything you do and we're already planning what competition we can come up with next! You are what makes Sherwood Grange special.

Recently, our residents enjoyed a beautifully creative Arts & Crafts session, taking inspiration from some of the artists they have admired and loved throughout their lives.

With charcoal, paint, watercolours and a selection of other artistic mediums to choose from, each resident was encouraged to work in the way that felt most natural to them; selecting a favourite artist and recreating a piece of their work in their own style.

it was rather special watching the room come to life as everyone became absorbed in their paintings. Some carefully studied the finer details, others experimented freely with colour and texture, and there was plenty of conversation along the way as memories of favourite artists and artworks were shared.

A lovely reminder that art has a way of bringing memories to the surface, encouraging conversation and giving us the freedom to simply enjoy creating something beautiful.

A wonderfully relaxed afternoon at Sherwood Grange, spent in the company of poetry, literature and good conversation.

Our resident enjoyed settling down with a refreshing cold drink while taking some time to read and explore a selection of poetry and literary favourites. It was the kind of simple, unhurried moment that makes an afternoon feel special a comfortable setting, something lovely to read, a refreshing drink and the pleasure of sharing it together.

A peaceful afternoon of culture, conversation and a little time to simply enjoy the moment.

Recently, we took advantage of the beautiful weather and brought our residents together in the garden for a lovely coffee and cake morning.

We set up a little outdoor café for the occasion, with tables arranged around the garden so everyone could sit comfortably, enjoy the sunshine and take in the greenery around them. Fresh coffee was served alongside a selection of cakes and sweet treats, giving everyone something delicious to enjoy while they caught up and spent time together.

It was a wonderfully relaxed morning, Some residents enjoyed chatting together over their coffee, while others simply sat back and enjoyed being outdoors, watching the garden and taking in the peaceful surroundings.

We also had a few familiar faces joining different groups throughout the morning, which made it feel particularly sociable. There was plenty of reminiscing, stories being shared and, of course, a little debate over which cake was the favourite!

It was a simple morning, but exactly the sort of occasion we love at Sherwood Grange good food, beautiful surroundings and, most importantly, good company. Our garden really is at its best when it becomes a place for everyone to come together, relax and enjoy one another’s company.

Last Friday, our garden became the setting for a beautifully relaxed summer afternoon, as residents came together to enjoy an elegant garden barbecue accompanied by the wonderful sounds of live saxophone.

With the sunshine overhead, our residents enjoyed a delicious selection of freshly prepared barbecue favourites, refreshing drinks and the pleasure of spending time together in the garden.

The live saxophonist provided a wonderful soundtrack to the afternoon, bringing an effortless sense of occasion to the gathering and creating an atmosphere that felt both sophisticated and wonderfully relaxed.

It was the perfect way to spend a summer afternoon at Sherwood Grange — enjoying exceptional food, live music, beautiful surroundings and, most importantly, each other’s company.

Yesterday, our residents enjoyed a truly special visit to the historic Royal Hospital Chelsea, where they were warmly welcomed by the distinguished Chelsea Pensioners for an unforgettable morning of history, and discovery.

During a guided tour of this iconic landmark, residents explored the magnificent architecture and beautifully maintained grounds while learning about the remarkable history of the Royal Hospital Chelsea and its enduring legacy as the home of Britain's retired Army veterans for more than three centuries.

Meeting the Chelsea Pensioners and hearing their stories made the experience especially meaningful, offering a rare opportunity to connect with individuals whose lives have shaped an important part of our nation's history.

The visit was a wonderful reminder that some of the most enriching experiences come from stepping into places where history is still very much alive. We are incredibly grateful to the team at the Royal Hospital Chelsea and the Chelsea Pensioners for their warm hospitality, generosity, and for making the day such a memorable occasion for our residents.
