Some places become part of your story 💇🏼♀️🤍
John Frieda was the first salon where I ever had my hair done what I’d call “professionally” — don’t tell my Uncle Peter who was also a talented hairdresser and did a brilliant job up until I became a beauty editor but who could resist an invitation to John Frieda - it was simply classy. I loved it, and I’ve been devoted ever since. Not just for the hair, but for the feeling: the care, the attention to detail, the warmth and the unmistakable sense of belonging that has always set it apart.
And if you had a John Frieda Gold Card back in the day, you knew you’d made it.
Celebrating 50 years at the Mayfair Salon tonight felt incredibly special. A milestone built on creativity, craftsmanship and an unwavering commitment to excellence.
Over the years, they’ve seen me through countless hair chapters — including the moment I became so obsessed with The Great Gatsby that I entrusted them with chopping off my Rapunzel-length hair into a 1920s bob. They did it beautifully. I’ve spent most of the years since growing it back, but I’ve never regretted the experience.
And at the heart of it all is John himself. A true industry icon, but more importantly one of the kindest, most gracious people you could meet. Looking around the room, it was clear that his legacy extends far beyond beautiful hair.
So lovely to spend the evening with old friends and some of the original beauty editors who, many years ago, I turned “lunch hours” into entire afternoons hanging out getting completely spoiled & made to look a million dollars at John Frieda with.
Some things change. The love for great hair, great people and this very special place hasn’t.
Congratulations on 50 extraordinary years and yes the DJ was playing this track 🪩✨
