Bipolar Stories ☕️
Not everyone with bipolar disorder spends money impulsively, and that needs to be made clear. Some people with bipolar disorder are extremely frugal, just like anyone else.
However, in some cases, during a manic or hypomanic episode, financial impulsivity can occur. A person may experience intense euphoria, increased self-confidence, a reduced perception of risk, and a strong feeling that they need to take advantage of an opportunity right then and there. As a result, they may spend far more than usual, make unnecessary purchases, or make financial decisions without adequately considering the consequences.
It’s not simply a matter of “being a spender.” It is a behavioral change associated with a mood episode.
So, before spending all that money because you are absolutely convinced that “it’s going to work out”… whatever happens, wait for the euphoria to pass. 😂
