✨ Community Event ✨

On Sunday 21st June our staff members Emmanuel and Tom were running a stall at the Lyric Square for Men's Health Week. It was a lovely day speaking with lots of different people to let them know about our service, what we do and how to get in touch. We hope we were able to encourage men to challenge the stigma and reach out to support their mental health 💜

21 May is World Meditation Day 🧘‍♂️

Taking a moment to slow down and focus on the present can support your mental health.

Practices like meditation and grounding can help you step away from worries about the past or future and bring your attention back to what is happening right now.
This can help reduce feelings of stress and anxiety and create a sense of calm.

In H&F NHS Talking Therapies, we sometimes use simple grounding techniques to help people feel more present and steadier. This might be noticing your breathing, paying attention to your surroundings, or focusing on physical sensations.
You don’t need to do it for long; a few minutes consistently each day can make a big difference.

15 May is International Day of Families! 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

Family can mean different things to different people. It might be the family you grew up with, the people in your community, or a chosen family of friends and support around you.

Looking out for one another can make a real difference to our mental health.

You might notice someone is quieter than usual, seems overwhelmed, or is struggling to cope. Taking a moment to check in, listen, and show you care can help them feel less alone.

You don’t need to have all the answers. Just being there can matter.

If you or someone you know is struggling with stress, worries or low mood, H&F NHS Talking Therapies offers free, confidential support for adults living in or have their GP in Hammersmith and Fulham. To find out more, visit the link in our bio.

With the weather getting warmer, we wanted to highlight how connecting with nature can support your mental health. 🌻

In NHS Talking Therapies, we often talk about how small changes in what we do can affect how we feel.

Research suggests that spending time outdoors, even for a short time, can lift our mood, reduce stress and help us feel calmer.

It might sound simple, but when things feel difficult, small and meaningful steps can be the best place to start.

In therapy, we sometimes call this behavioural activation. This means doing small, meaningful activities in line with your values to support your wellbeing.

This could be going for a short walk, sitting in the sun, or taking a moment to notice what’s around you.

What would connecting with nature look like for you? Let us know in the comments! 👇

April is Stress Awareness Month and stress is something we all experience.

But when is stress “too much”?

• it feels constant or overwhelming
• it’s affecting your sleep
• you’re avoiding things more
• it’s impacting work or relationships

You’re not “failing” at coping. Your mind and body might just need a different kind of support.

NHS Talking Therapies can help; you can self-refer using the link in our bio.

April is World Autism Acceptance Month

Autistic people are more likely to experience mental health difficulties like anxiety and low mood. This isn’t because of autism itself but often due to things like:

• sensory overwhelm
• navigating social expectations in a neurotypical world
• feeling misunderstood or pressure to mask

If you’re struggling, you’re not alone and support is available. We aim to make our service accessible and to adapt support to provide neuro-affirming care.
