🧲 Magnet Safety Tips 🧲

While magnets can be great fun, if a child swallows them they can attract to each other inside the body, sticking together and tearing holes in the gut. This can cause life-changing injuries.

Please remember:
⚠️Avoid small, loose magnets if you have small children.
⚠️Only buy magnetic toys from reputable retailers or brand names you know.
⚠️Beware, if buying magnets from overseas sellers on online marketplaces – there’s no way of knowing if they’re safe.
⚠️Teach older children to never put magnets in or near their mouths.
⚠️If you think your child may have swallowed magnets, go straight to A&E or call an ambulance.

☀️ Summer Safety ☀️
If the sun’s out where you are, slushies might be on the agenda… ⚠️

But it’s worth knowing that some slush drinks contain glycerol (E422), which helps create that icy texture. Younger children can be more sensitive to it, so:
⚠️ Under 7s should avoid slush drinks containing glycerol
🥤 Children aged 7–10 should have no more than one 350ml drink a day.

If you're not sure whether a slush contains glycerol, ask the seller or check the label – and if you can't find out, it's best to choose something else.

Mother of toddler shares her story to help raise awareness of the danger of button batteries.

Take a look around your home if you have a child and even if young children visit your home.

Please SHARE

Since losing Harper-Lee five years ago, mum Stacy has dedicated herself to raising awareness of the dangers of button batteries.

Unknown to her mum, Harper-Lee had swallowed a button battery from a remote control. Within hours it burnt through her food pipe to her main artery and she sadly passed away. She was two years old.

Please check that battery compartments are secure, store spare batteries safely out of reach and recycle used batteries at your local supermarket.

Let's keep raising awareness so that other families don't have to experience the anguish that Stacy’s did.
