Action stations everyone...set up has started.

Here we go!!! The Plan! 🪁

The beach is drying up nicely and the sun is shining!! the kite flyers will shortly be starting to build the arenas on the beach, ready for the Mayor’s grand opening at 6pm. 🎉

We have it on very good authority from Blackpool Air Traffic Control that the wind will begin to drop after 6pm, reaching a paltry 22mph by 7pm. 😂

Just in time for the best sunset you ever did see I’ve booked it specially. 🌅😉

Then it’s straight into a fantastic, if possibly somewhat low-to-the-ground, night fly, followed by the fairground fun! 🎡🪁

So grab your kites, your coats and your sense of adventure…

See you on the beach! 🌊🪁

*News flash...the weather is improving and we are good to go! *

Getting exciting...funfair on the beach setting up, and fabulous food stalls along the Prom.

Due to strong winds, the start of kite flying has been postponed to 3pm today....when hopefully a further inspection will give better news.

Whatever the weather, St. Annes international kite festival is worth a visit. Especially with all the town's other attractions on offer.

St Annes International Kite Festival starts TOMORROW!

Here is everything you need to know about this FREE event, including car parking tips - please share.

Running order (weather permitting):

🗓️ Friday 4 September - 12pm to 10pm, including illuminated kite flying (only on this night)

🗓️ Saturday 5 September - 11am to 5pm kite flying and an artisan market along the Promenade Gardens. The fairground on the beach is all day and into the evening.

🗓️ Sunday 6 September - 11am to 4pm kite flying, artisan market in the Prom Gardens, and fairground on the beach.

Five flying arenas with international kite teams and GREAT photo opportunities.

Live entertainment in St Annes Town Centre:

Lytham St Annes RNLI Open Day - Saturday - it's always a fabulous event.

🅿️Car Parking:

There are car parks across the town, including the highly affordable multi-storey on St George's Road. They will be busy but a short walk is better than finding no spaces at the seafront! Check the Fylde Council website for a full list.
Additional event parking is available on South Promenade (up to 600 spaces), adjacent to Fairhaven Road Car Park FY8 1NW.

Food, drink and great shops:

Our town centre is full of wonderful retail opportunities, cafes, restaurants and bars, supporting this fantastic event.

A wonderful season of free outside performances by the talented Lytham St Anne's Shanty Crew has ended for 2026.

Popular Monday night shows alternating between St Annes and Lytham have hopefully raised lots of donations for Lytham St Annes RNLI.

You dont have to wait til Spring to hear this lively bunch though. Visit their page for gig details and of course they will be at the RNLI open day in St Annes on Sea this Saturday (5th).

Thank you for some great summer nights in the fresh sea air!

Massive well done to the organisers, acts and vendors who contributed to the St Annes Music Festival and Fantasy Fayre.

Despite the weather, the feedback is all positive, and for a free event, it was first class!

Congratulations on 18 years of loyal service to our town....

The wonderful team at Fresh Cafe on Orchard Road have made it popular with both visitors and locals, thanks to a relaxing venue, delicious food and also a very warm welcome.

A very special task for the wonderful Fylde Ranger Service...

A seal pup came ashore on North Beach and was reluctant to go back in the water.

The rangers made sure there was specialist help, and a trained rescuer, to get 'Pip' checked over before going back into the wild.

If you ever see a seal on local beaches, please keep dogs away and call the coastguard.

An amazing tribute to a defining moment in the history of St Annes on Sea and Lytham.

Lytham In Bloom commissioned this new sculpture from local willow craftsperson Helena Mellenchip.

It's named 'Charles' in honour of Lytham lifeboatman Charles Biggs.

In December 1886, what is still the worst incident in the history of the RNLI occurred off the Fylde Coast. A German barque called the Mexico began to sink during a fierce winter storm.

Lytham, St Annes on Sea and Southport all launched their lifeboats. Only the Lytham one returned. The crew of that boat also managed to rescue the Mexico's 12 crew members.

This heroic lifesaving endeavour often gets forgotten, due to the tragedy of losing 27 brave lifeboatmen from St Annes and Southport in one night.

Well done to all involved with this important commemorative statue!

The Lytham St Annes RNLI page said "As today’s volunteers continue the tradition of saving lives at sea, we remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice and honour a legacy that remains at the heart of the RNLI."
