🌿Parent Empowerment-Support for Anxious Children

27/10/2026

Want your children to open up to you about how they’re really feeling? Start by showing them it’s safe to feel ALL their feelings.

Our children don’t need us to be happy all the time. They need to see that it’s okay to feel sad, worried, frustrated, angry or overwhelmed — and that we don’t have to hide those feelings or pretend everything is fine.

Many of us parents think we have to hide uncomfortable feelings from our children but if we want to teach our children that feelings are safe to feel, we have to show them. Otherwise, how are they going to learn?

Not from a book about feelings in school, that’s for sure.

When we name our own feelings, talk about what’s going on for us and show ourselves compassion, we teach our children something powerful:

✨ Feelings aren’t something to be ashamed of.
✨ We don’t have to push uncomfortable feelings away.
✨ We can talk about how we feel without being judged.
✨ We can feel difficult emotions and still be okay.

And no, we don’t need to share every adult worry with our children. It’s about showing them, in an age-appropriate way, that feelings are a normal part of being human.

Because when we allow our children to see that even grown-ups have feelings, we help them understand that they don’t have to hide theirs either. ❤️

You don’t have to get it right all the time. You just have to keep showing up, listening and creating a space where your child feels safe to be themselves.

💬 How comfortable are you talking about your own feelings in front of your children?

What are you communicating to a man when he goes silent… and you keep texting and calling? 💔

When you keep reaching out to someone who is choosing not to respond, you can end up communicating that he can withdraw his attention and you’ll keep chasing it.

So next time please STOP 🛑
Not because you should play games.
Not because you need to pretend you don’t care.
But because your need for answers shouldn’t come at the expense of your self-respect.

❤️You are allowed to want communication.
❤️You are allowed to expect honesty.
❤️And you are allowed to decide that silence isn’t the kind of relationship you want.

You don’t have to keep knocking on a door that someone is choosing to leave closed.

Let him be responsible for his communication. You be responsible for your peace.

Stop chasing the explanation. Start listening to what this situation is telling you about how you feel in this relationship.

Because the real question isn’t just, “Why isn’t he texting me back?”

It’s also, “Why am I working so hard to get a response from someone who isn’t meeting me even halfway?”

👇 Be honest… have you ever found yourself repeatedly texting or calling a man who went silent on you?

SAVE this as a reminder for the future and SHARE with a girlfriend who needs to hear it too 🤗

The real reason your child refuses to go out might surprise you… 💔

It’s not always laziness.
It’s not always that they can’t be bothered.
And it’s not necessarily that they’d rather sit in their bedroom all day.

Sometimes, it’s the fear of what other people might think.

💭 What if they laugh at me?
💭 What if I say something stupid?
💭 What if everyone else looks better than me?
💭 What if people notice how awkward I am?
💭 What if I don’t fit in?

For some young people, the thought of being judged by their peers feels so overwhelming that staying at home feels safer than stepping outside.

And the more they avoid social situations, the harder it can feel to face them next time.

As parents, it’s heartbreaking to watch your child miss out on friendships, experiences and opportunities because they’re frightened of what others might think.

You might find yourself saying, “Just go out and enjoy yourself!” or “Nobody is looking at you.”

But to a young person struggling with social anxiety, that fear feels very real.

They don’t need to be told to try harder, pushed into situations they’re not ready for or made to feel there’s something wrong with them.

They need to feel understood, supported and gradually helped to build the confidence to face the world again.

❤️ Because the goal isn’t just to get your child out of the house. It’s to help them feel safe enough in themselves to want to.

If your child is withdrawing from social situations, remember that there may be more going on beneath the surface than you can see.

Can you relate to this as a parent? Have you watched your child miss out because they’re worried about what other people think?

Share your experience below. You’re not alone. ❤️

💔 “If they’re happy, I’m happy.”

But are you, really, deep down, if you’re being really honest with yourself?

Could it be you’ve become so used to putting everyone else first that you’ve forgotten what makes you happy?

You keep the peace.
You bite your tongue.
You push your feelings aside.
You tell yourself it’s not worth the argument.
You convince yourself that as long as they’re okay, everything is okay.

But inside, you’re exhausted.

You’ve been overthinking every conversation, questioning your own feelings and wondering when you became the woman who feels guilty for having needs of her own.

You might not even realise how much of yourself you’ve lost along the way and that’s heartbreaking 💔

But you’ve a voice inside you that’s getting louder and it’s saying;

“What about me? When do I get to be happy, too?”

And if you’re reading this thinking, “Oh my God, that’s me”… perhaps it’s time to stop asking yourself how to make everyone else happy and start listening to the voice that’s trying to tell you:

You’re allowed to want more than just keeping someone else happy.

You’re allowed to have opinions, boundaries, dreams and feelings that matter just as much as theirs.

You can love someone without abandoning yourself to keep them.

Because you matter. Your happiness matters. And you deserve a life where you can finally breathe, feel safe and be yourself again. ❤️

✨ This is where your journey back to YOU begins.

If you’re ready to stop losing yourself in a relationship and start finding your way back, I’m here to help.

You can miss them…

…and still know you’re better off without them.

Because missing them doesn’t erase the hurt.

It doesn’t change the way you felt walking on eggshells.
It doesn’t undo the times you questioned your own reality.

And it certainly doesn’t mean you should go back.

Sometimes, you’re not missing the relationship you had.

You’re missing the relationship you HOPED you would have, the one you’d PLANNED to have, the ones me you’d ENVISIONED.

And that’s a very different kind of grief.

You can love someone, miss someone, and still choose yourself.

Both things can be true & upsetting and hurt deeply. ❤️

Sometimes life doesn’t go according to plan ❤️
Six years ago mine dropped off a cliff when my 24 year marriage (30 year relationship) with my husband ended abruptly along with the future I’d envisaged & planned for.

Your relationship ends. Your future you imagined disappears. The confidence you once had packs its bags and leaves without warning.

All of a sudden, you’re left questioning yourself, wondering where it all went wrong and trying to figure out who you are now?

You look around and wonder how everyone else seems to have it all figured out when you’re just trying to hang on by a thread and make it through the day.

✨But this is what I’ve learned since experiencing exactly this… you are not failing at life just because life looks different to how you imagined it.

You haven’t lost yourself forever. You’re not too old to start again. And you definitely don’t have to have the next five years figured out today.

Sometimes, the bravest thing you can do is take a breath, stop putting pressure on yourself to have all the answers, and gently start finding your way back to YOU in your own time, at your own pace ❤️

It’s your time now, it’s your season, this chapter of Life has YOUR name on it.

You get to become the woman you are now… with stronger boundaries, deeper self-trust and a clearer understanding of what you will and will no longer accept.

Your life might not look how you planned. But that doesn’t mean the best parts are behind you.

If you’re navigating a new chapter and trying to find your feet again, I want you to know you’re not alone and I know you’re stronger than you think 💕

Is this your daily dread?

The minute they walk through the door, it all kicks off…

The tears. The meltdowns. The anger & frustration.

The “I’m not going tomorrow.”

You’re exhausted, you’re asking yourself

‘What am I doing wrong?’

You’re feeling like you’re failing as a parent and you’ve run out of ideas.

What may help is realising that you’re absolutely not failing.

In actual fact you and your home is where your child feels safe enough to let go of everything they’ve been holding in and bottling up all day long.

If this sounds familiar, DM me the word CALM and I’ll tell you how I can help.
