The talk will be delivered by Suzanne Parker, Extended Scope Practitioner Physiotherapist, Adult Community Therapy Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and will explore the STEADY ON! approach to reducing the risk of falls and helping people stay safe, confident, and independent.

These are brilliant for people with dementia during a heatwave....

People living with Alzheimer’s and dementia can find it difficult to stay optimally hydrated 💧

This can be due to several reasons, including difficulty holding cups, not recognising feelings of thirst, or not connecting thirst with drinking.

Jelly Drops are easy to use and support hydration in the form of a tasty treat 🍬

A dementia diagnosis doesn't have to mean that you stop doing the things you enjoy.

We know that it can be difficult to think about the future, but getting organised now can give you peace of mind that the care and support you receive in the future will be right for you.

Our information and advice can help you or your loved one stay independent and live well for as long as possible: https://bit.ly/3Psok06

One of the best parts of community physio is helping people stay independent in their own homes.

Sometimes it’s the little wins that matter most:
✔️ Walking to the garden again
✔️ Getting upstairs more confidently
✔️ Feeling steadier on your feet
✔️ Being able to enjoy day-to-day life more comfortably

Rehab doesn’t always have to be dramatic to be meaningful 💙

I'm on an exciting course today learning all about 'The Internet of Things'.

The Internet of Things is changing the way healthcare is delivered — especially in community and home-based care.
From wearable devices that track heart rate and mobility, to smart blood pressure monitors and fall detectors, connected technology can help clinicians monitor patients remotely, spot problems earlier, and support people to stay independent at home for longer.

For physiotherapy, this could mean:
✨Tracking activity levels during rehabilitation
✨Monitoring exercise adherence remotely
✨Detecting changes in mobility or balance sooner.
✨Improving communication between patients and healthcare teams
✨But while the benefits are exciting, there are also important pitfalls to consider.

Technology should support patient care — not replace human connection. Concerns around data privacy, device reliability, digital exclusion, and over-reliance on technology must be carefully managed to ensure care remains safe, personal, and accessible for everyone.

♥️ The future of healthcare is likely to become increasingly connected — but compassion, trust, and clinical judgement will always matter most.

😂 It's always a good idea to ensure things are accessible too in case the primary method fails!
