🐊 The Great Portuguese Crocodile Rescue of 2026 🐊

Our 2nd day in Quarteira and we headed down to the beach with towels, inflatables and good intentions.

The boys were playing in the sea and Frankie handed me his giant inflatable crocodile, which I placed our bag on top of on the shore to keep it anchored.

All was well, until it was time to leave...

I took the bag off the crocodile and WHOOSH!

The wind caught it and sent it tumbling out to sea like it was making a break for Morocco.

Like a Temu David Hasselhoff, I charged into the ocean to rescue it, but it was no use. The croc was doing flips in the waves and heading for the horizon.

Poor Jack was devastated. Frankie took it surprisingly well (possibly because I'd already promised to buy him another one 🙈).

As we walked back along the beach and the croc continued to flip out further and further, we noticed a speedboat out at sea... and it seemed to be moving towards the crocodile... then towards us.

A few minutes later, one of the crew spotted us and pointed.

We waved.

Then he lifted the crocodile high above his head like he'd just won the Champions League trophy!

The boys went wild! 🎉

The skipper brought the boat close to shore and Frankie swam out to collect his beloved croc. He returned triumphantly while Jack and I stood on the beach shouting,"YESSSSSS!"

What struck me most wasn't that we got the crocodile back. It was the kindness.

Those lads had absolutely no reason to go out of their way, retrieve it, find us and bring it back. Yet they did.

A small act of kindness that turned into one of my favourite holiday memories of all time.

Sometimes humanity is brilliant. ❤️

Obrigado, Portuguese Crocodile Rescue Team! 🇵🇹🐊🚤

Hi folks,

I hope you've had a great week.

It's been a while since we've explored Loving Kindness together, so that's what we'll be practising on tonight's Zoom session.

Loving Kindness (Metta) is an ancient Buddhist practice that helps cultivate warmth, compassion and friendliness towards ourselves and others. It's sometimes described as an antidote to fear and anxiety, helping us gently turn towards kindness rather than threat.

There's even some fascinating research suggesting practices like this may support healthy ageing by reducing stress.

Team photo with the Mindfulness Now gang!

Just a really lovely group of people. In a world that can sometimes feel full of competition, conflict and people trying to outdo each other, it was so refreshing to spend time around so much kindness, warmth and genuine care.

Very grateful for the weekend 😊

By the way I’m the tall fella at the back on the left making the peace sign ✌️

Had a really special day at the Midlands Arts Centre yesterday, speaking at a mindfulness event on the theme of “Unshackling the Mind: Befriending the Inner Critic.”

I decided to trust myself and deliver the workshop without notes this time. This was a big thing for me, who has previously clung to notes and over-preparation through fear of messing up! But I wanted to practice speaking from the heart and sharing my own experiences with mindfulness, overthinking and learning to relate differently to the mind.

We explored how thoughts often appear automatically, how trying to push them away can make them louder, and how mindfulness can help us step back, make space and respond with a little more kindness.

There was meditation, reflection, laughter, lovely conversations and some really kind feedback afterwards too, which meant a lot.

One person even said: “I really want to emulate your style.” That was quite emotional to hear, honestly.

A big thank you to everyone involved and to all the warm, supportive people I met throughout the day. It reminded me how powerful kindness, encouragement and genuine human connection can be.

Hope you’re all having a peaceful weekend 💛

Good morning folks ☀️👋

Did anyone else used to hear the Heartbeat theme tune on a Sunday night as a kid and immediately feel a sense of dread about the week ahead? 😂

That “back to school / back to work tomorrow” feeling seems to stay with many of us in one form or another. Sunday evenings can bring up a lot... overthinking, tension, pressure, worrying about the week ahead, or just that feeling of not quite being able to relax.

So tonight’s Zoom session is called Letting Go of the Sunday Scaries 🌿

This won’t be about trying to force ourselves to feel calm or pretending everything is fine.

Instead, we’ll gently explore how to pause, slow down, and relate differently to those thoughts and feelings with awareness and kindness.

Using the breath, body, grounding, and gentle guidance, we’ll practise letting thoughts come and go a little more easily, rather than getting completely pulled into them.

I’ll be recording the session if you can’t make it live but would like the replay. The £3 contribution still applies so it stays fair for all.

Looking forward to practising together,
