Neurological Physiotherapy

Neurological Physiotherapy Specialist Physiotherapy for neurological and complex conditions based in Cheadle, Stockport. Community visits covering all of south Manchester.

From a single physiotherapist in 1993, Neurological Physiotherapy has developed into the leading practice providing the treatment for all neurological presentations throughout Cheshire, South Manchester and Derbyshire. Our specialist team of therapists will enable you to achieve your potential and maintain your level of ability. Treatment can take place within our accessible clinics or within the

home. Our team of therapists all specialise in neurology, however the physiotherapists also have individual areas of interest. You will be directed towards the most appropriate physiotherapist to see you. We provide hour long assessment and treatment sessions and work closely with the patient and family to identify goals for treatment. Tailor made exercise programs promote and encourage improvement between therapy sessions.

Last week our Parkinson’s exercise group adapted their session to exercise safely during the warmer weather, with more seated exercises led by our physiotherapist to help everyone keep active while staying cool and comfortable.

Regular exercise is so important for people living with Parkinson’s, improving mobility, balance, strength and confidence and sometimes adapting the session is the best way to keep moving safely.

We’re proud to run a specialised Neurological Strength Group from our clinic gym - a small, friendly class designed for individuals with a wide range of neurological conditions.
Each session is carefully adapted to meet the unique needs, goals, and abilities of every participant. From strength training to confidence‑building functional exercises, the focus is always on safe progression, personalised support, and celebrating every achievement, big or small.
Because the group is intentionally kept small, we’re able to offer close guidance, tailored adaptations, and a welcoming environment where patients feel encouraged, understood, and empowered in their journey.
If you’d like to learn more about the group or enquire about joining, we’d be happy to chat.

Hot Weather & Neurological Conditions:
As temperatures rise, many people living with neurological conditions may notice an increase in symptoms or fatigue. Conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease, stroke recovery, and other neurological disorders can be particularly sensitive to heat.

Heat can affect:
Energy levels and fatigue
Balance and mobility
Muscle weakness or stiffness
Dizziness and concentration
Hydration and blood pressure

Here are some simple ways to stay safe and comfortable during warmer weather:
💧 Stay hydrated throughout the day
❄️ Keep cool with fans, cooling towels, or shaded environments
👕 Wear lightweight, breathable clothing
⏰ Plan exercise or outdoor activities during cooler morning/evening hours
🧠 Listen to your body - rest when needed
🏠 Avoid prolonged exposure to direct heat

It’s important to adapt activity levels safely during periods of high temperature. Small adjustments can make a big difference in maintaining wellbeing and reducing symptom flare-ups.
If you or a loved one are struggling with mobility, fatigue, or physical symptoms during the warmer months, our neurological physiotherapy team is here to help support you safely and effectively.

Stay safe, stay cool, and take care ☀️

We are supporting charity for ABI awareness week. The impact of brain injury can be devastating for both survivors and their loved ones. It leaves lives upturned, futures more uncertain, and once-familiar relationships changed. It reshapes how you fit into the world and how close you feel to the people in it. Headway charity have lots of information and support on their website.
