Following the recent news, it is a sobering reminder of how critical first aid knowledge can be in emergency situations.

While investigations determine the facts of any individual case, one thing remains clear: the ability to recognise a medical emergency, provide immediate assistance, and support someone until professional help arrives can make a significant difference.

First aid is not just a workplace requirement or a certification to renew every few years. It is a practical life skill that can help colleagues, friends, family members, and even strangers when seconds matter.

As organisations and communities, we should continue to invest in high-quality first aid training, regular refreshers, and the confidence to act when someone needs help.

My thoughts are with everyone affected by this tragic event. Hopefully, it also encourages more of us to learn or refresh these essential skills.
