Coulby Medical Practice will be changing the clinical system used within the practice. This system will go live on the 1st October 2026. We thank patients for their patience during the changeover period.

Coulby Medical Practice will be using the clinical system 'SystmOne' which allows integrated care with other healthcare organisations who also use the system, such as hospitals and district nurses, to help improve patient care. 📣‼️New Electronic Patient Record System‼️📣
We are pleased to announce that Coulby Medical Practice is upgrading it's GP clinical system to better serve you and enhance your healthcare experience. We are moving from our current system known as EMIS to a system provided by TPP, called SystmOne.

𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞?
𝐒𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲: We believe that SystmOne will offer us better reliability and more consistent performance which in turn allows us to deliver better patient care.
𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐄𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲: The new system offers advanced features that will streamline administrative tasks, allowing our staff to spend more time focusing on patient care.
𝐄𝐧𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: With improved integration and communication capabilities, we will be able to coordinate your care more effectively with other healthcare providers and specialists.
𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬?
The main difference for patients will be that you will no longer be able to use Patient Access to access your online services.
We encourage you to prepare for his change by registering for the NHS App. This means that your access should continue uninterrupted on the NHS App as we make this transition.
The NHS App gives you a simple and secure way to access a range of NHS services. 𝐃𝐨𝐰𝐧𝐥𝐨𝐚𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐇𝐒 𝐀𝐩𝐩 𝐨𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐩𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐭 𝐯𝐢𝐚 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐆𝐨𝐨𝐠𝐥𝐞 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐲 𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐩𝐩 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐞. You can also access the same services in a web browser by logging in through the NHS website.

𝐖𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 '𝐠𝐨 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞' 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦 𝐨𝐧 𝟏𝐬𝐭 𝐎𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔. The process leading up to this will be:
𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Out team has been working diligently to prepare for the transition. All staff will also undertake comprehensive training to ensure a smooth migration to the new system.
𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐝: During the transition period from Monday 21st September – Thursday 1st October there will be temporary disruptions to our services. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to minimize any inconvenience. We will be sharing specific details of service changes and how these might affect you soon.

✨HOW WE'VE WORKED HARD FOR YOU IN JULY✨

🏆 We're proud to share some fantastic news!🏆

We are delighted to have been recognised by the Tees Valley Lung Cancer Screening Programme for our commitment to improving the early detection of lung cancer and supporting better patient outcomes. Between July 2023 and July 2026, Coulby Medical Practice achieved the highest response rate in the programme, with an outstanding 79.8% of eligible patients accepting their invitation to take part.

During this period, 770 patients received a Lung Health Check, with 712 patients going on to have a mobile CT scan. As a result of these screenings, 4 patients were diagnosed with lung cancer, enabling them to access specialist care and treatment as early as possible. In addition, 704 other health conditions were identified, allowing patients to receive further investigation and support for a range of other health concerns.

This recognition highlights the life-changing impact of early detection. Lung cancer screening not only helps identify cancer at an earlier, more treatable stage but can also uncover other health conditions that may otherwise have gone unnoticed.

Last week, we were delighted to deliver a dementia information session to the Patient Participation Group at Coulby Medical Practice .

As a long-standing member and supporter of Dementia Friendly Middlesbrough, the practice continues to demonstrate its commitment to creating a more dementia-friendly community.

Patient Participation Groups play a vital role in shaping and improving local healthcare services. By increasing their understanding of dementia, group members are better equipped to recognise the challenges people living with dementia and their families face, champion inclusive services, and help ensure that everyone receives compassionate, informed support.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to the discussion. Together, we're helping to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and make Middlesbrough a more dementia-friendly place for all.
