Practice Learning Time Session

All GP practices (including Moffat Medical Practice) in Upper Annandale will be closed from 13:00 next Thursday 27th August for a Protected Learning Time session.

We will re-open again at 08:00 on Friday 28th.

eConsult will be on from 07:00-11:00 and will reopen at 07:00 on Friday 28th August.

This is to assist whole team training to support our commitment to giving patients the best possible care. We will debriefing on our recent computer migration and sharing learning within the team.

We encourage you to plan ahead similar to public holiday closures to ensure you have all medications you require during this period.

💬🧑🏻‍⚕️ Introducing our new chronic disease/medicine blood monitoring invitation/reminder process!

🏁 Our new process will begin on Monday!

♻️ To make this process more convenient, more environmentally friendly, and more focused on your individual needs, we are going to be using a system called Medlink for annual health review invitations. This links in with our new national computer system upgrade and Medlink has been rolled out across GP practices in Scotland.

📢 If any other ongoing blood test or certain nursing appointments are due (e.g. B12 injection, HRT review) you will also receive a text/email advising you this is due with the option of self-booking on your phone.

The texts will come from “MoffatGP”

We hope this makes things more convenient for patients, allowing you to select from a list of available appointments, in your own time.

The specific link will only allow you to book in with the relevant person e.g healthcare assistant for blood test, practice nurse for smear test.

Thank you for all your patience over the last week whilst we migrated to a new clinical system.

Our staff are all doing an excellent job at learning this new system. This is a completely new system to us (and Scotland) and works VERY differently to the system we are used too. Please be respectful and continue to bear with our team as we continue to gain confidence in using the new system - naturally this will take a little bit of time.

All of our team are working EXCEPTIONALLY hard to get through the inevitable backlog of tasks/admin that comes with such an enormous system change.

💊🛜 New online prescription ordering service

“Patient access” will be replaced by “Patient services. All previously registered and all that we have a valid email address for will automatically receive an email invite (from [email protected])to sign up (over the next week). To sign up:

1. Open the email, make a note of the login details
Account ID
Linkage Key -
2. Choose Register new account below the login box
3. Choose ‘YES’ - When asked if you have received a registration letter, it means the e-mail you received and add the Practice ID shown on the email.
4. Enter your Account ID and Linkage ID from the email - be careful it's case sensitive
5. Create a unique username
6. Enter your chosen password in both password boxes – make a note of your username and password – you’ll need them later
7. Add your personal details and then tick the box to agree to the terms & conditions and Privacy Policy.
8. Tick the box ‘I am not a robot’
9. Select the ‘Register’ box

In keeping with other local practices, during our National computer upgrade we will be operating an URGENT on the day only service, when we reopen tomorrow.

We will only be able to deal with URGENT issues (please submit eConsult as normal) from Wednesday 29th July - Wednesday 5th August

Routine issues - we will not be able to book appointments until after the upgrade.

Please only call the practice during this time for urgent issues.

🚧⛔️ Moffat Road Closures this week

Like all of Moffat, we have been trying to closely follow updates about this week’s planned road closure on the A701 road into Moffat from the M74 roundabout (e.g. the main road in). We aren’t 100% as there is lots of varying information.

The works are scheduled some time between tomorrow 28th until Thursday 30th - depending on weather. It is believed to likely to be Wednesday for one day only.

Diversions - the below will be the diversions

1. Barnhill Lane (first right when you come off M74 rounadabout) onto Old Carlisle Road
2. If coming from Abington, Crawford, Leadhills, Wanlockhead - either above - or over Greenhillstairs bridge

X74 bus - see below screenshot from what the council have told Cllr Davis

Houstons - 101+380 services - see below

If we hear anymore certainty we will update you.

Please ensure to plan accordingly to ensure you don’t miss your appointment. Wednesday onwards is our urgent only days (due to computer upgrade), so the traffic issues may hopefully not affect many of our patients anyway.

💊 Our phone prescription line is now closed. It will reopen at 8am on Tuesday 4th August.

We will be unable to issue repeat prescriptions during our new National computer system upgrade.

Our staff have worked hard to process the thousands of extra scripts requested in the past few weeks in advance of our computer system upgrade. Thank you for ordering your medicines in advance.

“Patient access” online prescription requests now ceases to exist, but will be replaced by “Patient Services”. For those previously registered and those who we have an email address for, during our migration to the new clinical system, you will receive an email from One Advanced (Patient Services) offering you to sign up to the new online prescription service, to enable you to order your medication online. Today marks Dr Rose’s last day with Moffat Medical Practice before her and her family emigrate to America.

Dr Rose has been an asset to our team in Moffat and we are deeply grateful for her commitment and care to the team and her patient’s.

We will all miss Dr Rose but wish her and her family all the best on their new adventure in the States.
