💊 FAO Leadhills/Wanlockhead/Dispensing patients

Unfortunately, we have had to temporarily switch the MedPoint dispensing machine off. There have been several issues with the machine talking to the software. It is a new version of the machine, so these are hopefully teething issues that the company can fix ASAP. We have been in touch with the lead site engineers who are working through the issues to fix them. Until we have a guarantee that these are fixed, we plan to have the machine switched off. We apologise for any inconvenience the issues have caused our patients and thank you for your patience. The last thing we want is patients being inconvienced - the reason for installing the machine was to improve patient access to their medicines 24/7, 365 days a year.

In the interim, please continue to collect your medicines during the standard surgery collection times or from Leadhills shop. We would like to thank the shop for continuing to work with us during this time.

The Nexplanon® contraception implant is now licensed for 5 years in the UK, following strong evidence showing it remains safe and effective, with no pregnancies reported in years 4–5 of use.

For those with implants currently in place - you can now keep your implant for an extra two years (5 years)!

We will update all relevant patients record and call you in at year 5 now, instead of year 3, for removal or reinsertion

This gives women more choice and flexibility when considering their contraceptive options, while reducing unnecessary appointments.

Reminder: Our Practice Will Close Early Tomorrow

We’ll be closed from 13:00 tomorrow, Tuesday 12th May so our team can take part in Protected Learning Time session.

eConsult will close at 11:00.

If your medical issue is urgent and cannot wait until we reopen, please call 01387 241033.

We reopen as normal Wednesday 13th at 08:00. eConsult will re-open at 07:00.

⭐️ Practice training

All GP practices in Upper Annandale will be closed from 13:00 next Tuesday 12th May for a Protected Learning Time session. We will re-open again at 08:00 on 13th May

eConsult will be on 07:00-11:00 and will reopen at 07:00 on Wednesday 13th May

This is to support whole team training to support our commitment to giving patients the best possible care.

For URGENT matters that cannot wait until we re-open our local OOH service will be contactable on 01387 241033

💊 24/7 prescription collection - Our MedPoint machine at Leadhills surgery is now up and running!

We have already had lots of patients register. For those that haven’t, registration forms can be collected from Moffat/Leadhills or downloaded from our website - it has FAQs attached.

✅ Order your prescription in the usual way
✅ Collect your prescription any time, day or night – 365 days of the year!

ℹ️ Please remember controlled drugs/refrigerated drugs cannot be collected from the machine e.g. Morphine- these would need to be collected from the Leadhills surgery on Mon/Wed - as is currently the case.

Leadhills shop collection will cease at the end of April.

This project Leadhills Dispensing Machine is supported by the Clyde Wind Farm and SSE Renewables, as managed by South Lanarkshire Council.

eConsult - temporary issue

Unfortunately our eConsult is currently down. Our public holiday has accidentally been set to today instead of Monday. This is in the process of being fixed.

In the interim, please call the practice to fill in an eConsult lite if you need help today.

📢 Dispensing patients (Leadhills/Crawford/Abington/Wanlockhead/Elvanfoot) - Leadhills surgery

💊 24/7 prescription collection - Our MedPoint machine has been delivered and installed. It will be going live for medicine collection from Wednesday 15th April.

✅ Initial registration needed - collect a form from Moffat/Leadhills or download from our website - it has FAQs attached.
✅ Order your prescription in the usual way
✅ Collect your prescription any time, day or night – 365 days of the year!

ℹ️ Please remember controlled drugs/refrigerated drugs cannot be collected from the machine e.g. Morphine- these would need to be collected from the Leadhills surgery on Mon/Wed - as is currently the case. This is due to controlled drug legislation. Leadhills shop collection will cease from end of April, giving people time to sign up to the machine. For those that do no wish to use the machine, the current collection arrangements from Leadhills surgery remain (Mon/Wed).

We will start processing requests from Monday 13th April for those that have already signed up and medicine collection from the machine will start Wednesday 15th April!

Follow these steps to start using it:
1️⃣ Register for the service and order your prescription in the usual way.
2️⃣ Receive a unique collection code via text when your medicine is ready
3️⃣ Collect your prescription any time, day or night by entering your unique collection code into the machine.

📺 TV Screen

Our waiting room now has a television screen installed to help share important practice information and updates to our patients.

We hope to utilise these screens to advertise local community events and resources to patients, improving community engagement.

We would encourage non-profit community groups/charities/event holders to email us with any information that they feel would be helpful to promote in the surgery on our screens. For example, Macmillan coffee mornings, local support groups etc.
