🌱 Allotment Top Tip! Did you know that the fluffy white lining inside a broad bean pod acts like a little natural "fridge", helping keep the beans cool while they grow?

On a hot day, try rubbing the soft fluffy lining across your forehead or the back of your neck. It feels wonderfully cool and refreshing!

🤔FUN FACT! Ever wondered why wasps seem so angry at this time of year? There's actually a story behind it! Throughout the summer, wasps drink nectar, help pollinate flowers, and spend most of their time working for their colony.

By late summer, the new queens leave to hibernate, the colony is collapsing, and the 'worker' wasps are out of a job. They spend their last weeks hunting for sugary treats like fallen apples, fruit, fizzy drinks... and your picnic!

So while you think they're being overly aggressive, just imagine how you'd feel if you were jobless, homeless, and 'drunk' from all the fermented apples 😅

🌱💚 Food Safari Club – Family Feedback 💚🌱
We love hearing how our sessions are making a difference to local families!

🗨️Here's some wonderful feedback from one of our Food Safari Club families:
"We joined the Food Safari in early 2026 and have learnt so much. Tom and George have been amazing – so warm and welcoming, and no question is too silly. We've learnt about all sorts of plants and herbs and have been able to use what we've learnt at home in our own garden. My 3-year-old has been able to get involved too, and both children have grown in confidence when it comes to planting, harvesting, and picking fruit and vegetables. Tom and George have made learning an enjoyable experience, and my 6-year-old and I look forward to attending each week."

There's nothing better than seeing families learn, grow and build confidence together through nature, healthy food and outdoor activities. 🌿🍓🥕🌻

Supporting the Next Generation of Student Doctors Through Nature, Food & Wellbeing 🍅🌱

At The Good Life Project, we're proud to support educational placements for student doctors from the University of Lancashire, helping them experience first-hand how community-based activities can improve health, wellbeing and social connection.

This week, we welcomed back a group of international medical students who previously completed a four-week placement with us. Their feedback was heartwarming:
💚 They loved discovering and tasting vegetables they would never normally buy or try
💚 They enjoyed learning about plants and food grown in the UK
💚 They appreciated being able to choose activities that suited their interests – from gardening and physical activities to arts, crafts and creativity
💚 Most importantly, they felt welcomed, included and valued.

🗨️One student shared:
"We genuinely loved every activity and everything we learned during our placement. We often talked about how much we missed The Good Life Project throughout the year."

Experiences like our Food Safari demonstrate how food, nature, creativity and community can play an important role in health education, helping future doctors understand the wider factors that influence physical and mental wellbeing.

A huge thank you to our visitors for spending the day with us and for sharing their wonderful feedback and photographs. We look forward to welcoming more University of Lancashire students in the future.
